Children Book For All (CBA) started in November last year by Arushi, a psychotherapist in practice since 7 years. The Save Chevella Banyans group has been working for the past five years to protect a stretch of heritage banyan trees on the Manneguda-Chevella-Vikarabad road from being felled to make way for a four-lane highway. The group received a favourable judgment from the National Green Tribunal that in its opinion required that the National Highways Authorities of India conduct an Environmental Impact Assessment before proceeding with the highway construction, noting that the trees were part of a valuable ecosystem that should be preserved. The group has now learned that the highway project is slated to be cleared, and the EIA has been obtained. We wish to challenge this and seek to examine whether the EIA has indeed been done as per norms.

Police Action & Politicization of History

The calls to observe September 17, which marks the annexation of the earth while the princely state of Hyderabad into India in 1948, as 'Hyderabad Liberation Day' have been growing over the last handful of years thanks to an aggressive right-wing push.


Lack of political will and an unwillingness to speak about it over decades has led to the event today getting politicized. Last year, the Telangana government also observed it as 'National Integration Day' caving into pressure. Similarly, this year, the government is organizing another event.

It is in these contacts that it is important to understand what happened in 1948, especially with the Razakar violence, the Telangana Armed Struggle, and the aftermath, which led to a massacre of thousands of Muslims in parts of the erstwhile Hyd state.

Journalist Yunus Lasania will host the talk, and Mr Raghu Pal, whose father participated in the Telangana Armed Struggle, will be the guest speaker.

This comparative project spanning South Africa, Brazil, and India (NCR, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Kolkata) attempted to map the social dynamics of wealth ownership and reveal what drives wealth inequality in the Global South. The study sought to understand questions such as: Who are the wealthy Indians? How have they come to acquire vast amounts of wealth? What kinds of wealth do they own? What social backgrounds do they come from? How do social and political networks contribute to the diversification of wealth? What are the conceptual and methodological challenges of studying wealthy in India?
This panel discussion intends to disseminate the major findings of the project and generate a conversation on the differentiation of accumulation across regional and social groups as well as the relation between wealth and politics and the changing nature of state-business relationship.

This group is dedicated to creating a space where survivors can come together to share their stories, express what they carry, and find sharedness in another's company. Here, the focus is on acknowledgement, expression and empathy, allowing the members to speak freely and be heard. Here, we emphasize the importance of connecting with others who truly understand the complexities of such experiences. It is a place where shared experiences foster a sense of belonging and where the act of coming together helps to ease the burden of isolation, offering comfort and a sense of community.

Meenal Jain: An entrepreneur and a content creator, she is a woman who is not settling for less. With a background in sociology and currently pursuing psychology, she is always striving for growth, not just for herself but for the betterment of society.

Ilm ka shehar is an essay film which examines the 19thcentury idea of knowledge characterized by the spirit of inclusivity, of making things accessible, of literatures, literary practices, and reading cultures, of open spaces. It traces the transformation of this idea to Knowledge City, a city based on the economy of byte sized information. It explores the concepts of space, place, and knowledge through small narratives from the city of Hyderabad, in the Deccan region of India. It features the work of modernist intellectual Dr. Syed Mohiuddin Qadri Zor of the Deccan.

It is the 3rd fluid art workshop being conducted by Minion.crafts at Lamakaan. This September marks one year since we started conducting art workshops.

In this workshop, you will not only create art while having fun but also learn some very interesting techniques used in Fluid art. Ang Lee (born October 23, 1954) is a Taiwanese filmmaker. His films are known for their emotional charge and exploration of repressed, hidden emotions. During his career, he has received international critical and popular acclaim and numerous accolades, including three Academy Awards, four BAFTA Awards, and three Golden Globe Awards. In 2003, he was ranked 27th in The Guardian's 40 best directors.[6]

Born in Pingtung County, Lee was educated in Taiwan and later in the United States. He rose to prominence directing films such as Pushing Hands (1991), The Wedding Banquet (1993), and Eat Drink Man Woman (1994), which explored the relationships and conflicts between tradition and modernity, Eastern and Western; the three films are informally known as the "Father Knows Best" trilogy.[7] The films were critically successful both in Taiwan and internationally.

An evening when protest poetry meets performance art – A timely book in the Aftermath of the rape and Murder of Abhaya, victimized at the R.G Kar Hospital in Kolkata, West Bengal on October 9. This anthology of poetry is a heart-wrenching tribute to all the women who have suffered abuse and violence against women, written and performed by a feminist author who has worked as an advocate of international human rights both in the U.S. and India.

The poems Shahnaz will read give searing insights into the ‘rape culture’ that uncovers a deeper societal sickness, all expressed in dazzling poetic imagery and form. The author, poet, journalist, professor (frmly), international advocate of human rights, director and actor of theatre in New York, combines a dramatic theatrical rendering with the deeply moving actualization of the harrowing victimization of women in our country, and elsewhere where women continue to be oppressed.

The Government of France awarded Fatima Shahnaz a citation as a ‘Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters’ (Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres); she was one of the few and first journalists and activists who were allowed to visit the gruesome house where the murders of scores of children and women took place in Nithari, on the borders of Delhi, in 2006, when she wrote about the tragedy and interacted with impoverished parents of the disappeared children.

Synopsis:
It is a story about two college students, Shiva and Hari, who became friends in their freshman
year. They had a lot in common, including their strong ambitions to achieve their dreams, which
required a lot of money.
As time passed, they both got into smoking weed, and soon enough, it became an addiction.
They started to spend most of their time getting high, neglecting their studies, passion and even
their friendship. One day, they realized that they needed a lot of money to achieve their
dreams and came up with an idea to start selling weed.
Their business flourished, and they were making a lot of money. but it wasn't long before things
started to go wrong. They got involved with the wrong crowd and started to have conflicts with
each other. Their addiction to weed grew, and their friendship began to suffer.
As they both reached the peak of their business, they lost sight of their values and were willing
to do anything to make more money. The shortcuts they took to achieve their dreams didn't
bring them true happiness.

This October, let us celebrate the cinema of Ang Lee, one of the most creative directors of our time.

Ang Lee (born October 23, 1954) is a Taiwanese filmmaker. His films are known for their emotional charge and exploration of repressed, hidden emotions. During his career, he has received international critical and popular acclaim and numerous accolades, including three Academy Awards, four BAFTA Awards, and three Golden Globe Awards. In 2003, he was ranked 27th in The Guardian's 40 best directors.[6]

Born in Pingtung County, Lee was educated in Taiwan and later in the United States. He rose to prominence directing films such as Pushing Hands (1991), The Wedding Banquet (1993), and Eat Drink Man Woman (1994), which explored the relationships and conflicts between tradition and modernity, Eastern and Western; the three films are informally known as the "Father Knows Best" trilogy.[7] The films were critically successful both in Taiwan and internationally.

His breakthrough in Hollywood was the costume drama Sense and Sensibility (1995), which was also his first entirely English-language film. The Save Chevella Banyans group has been working for the past five years to protect a stretch of heritage banyan trees on the Manneguda-Chevella-Vikarabad road from being felled to make way for a four-lane highway. The group received a favourable judgment from the National Green Tribunal that in its opinion required that the National Highways Authorities of India conduct an Environmental Impact Assessment before proceeding with the highway construction, noting that the trees were part of a valuable ecosystem that should be preserved. The group has now learned that the highway project is slated to be cleared, and the EIA has been obtained. We wish to challenge this and seek to examine whether the EIA has indeed been done as per norms.

Police Action & Politicization of History

The calls to observe September 17, which marks the annexation of the earth while the princely state of Hyderabad into India in 1948, as 'Hyderabad Liberation Day' have been growing over the last handful of years thanks to an aggressive right-wing push.


Lack of political will and an unwillingness to speak about it over decades has led to the event today getting politicized. Last year, the Telangana government also observed it as 'National Integration Day' caving into pressure. Similarly, this year, the government is organizing another event.

It is in these contacts that it is important to understand what happened in 1948, especially with the Razakar violence, the Telangana Armed Struggle, and the aftermath, which led to a massacre of thousands of Muslims in parts of the erstwhile Hyd state.

Journalist Yunus Lasania will host the talk, and Mr Raghu Pal, whose father participated in the Telangana Armed Struggle, will be the guest speaker.

What social backgrounds do they come from? How do social and political networks contribute to the diversification of wealth? Ilm ka shehar is an essay film which examines the 19thcentury idea of knowledge characterized by the spirit of inclusivity, of making things accessible, of literatures, literary practices, and reading cultures, of open spaces. It traces the transformation of this idea to Knowledge City, a city based on the economy of byte sized information. It explores the concepts of space, place, and knowledge through small narratives from the city of Hyderabad, in the Deccan region of India. It features the work of modernist intellectual Dr. Syed Mohiuddin Qadri Zor of the Deccan.

It is the 3rd fluid art workshop being conducted by Minion.crafts at Lamakaan. This September marks one year since we started conducting art workshops.

An evening when protest poetry meets performance art – A timely book in the Aftermath of the rape and Murder of Abhaya, victimized at the R.G Kar Hospital in Kolkata, West Bengal on October 9. This anthology of poetry is a heart-wrenching tribute to all the women who have suffered abuse and violence against women, written and performed by a feminist author who has worked as an advocate of international human rights both in the U.S. and India.

The poems Shahnaz will read give searing insights into the ‘rape culture’ that uncovers a deeper societal sickness, all expressed in dazzling poetic imagery and form. The author, poet, journalist, professor (frmly), international advocate of human rights, director and actor of theatre in New York, combines a dramatic theatrical rendering with the deeply moving actualization of the harrowing victimization of women in our country, and elsewhere where women continue to be oppressed.

The Government of France awarded Fatima Shahnaz a citation as a ‘Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters’ (Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres); she was one of the few and first journalists and activists who were allowed to visit the gruesome house where the murders of scores of children and women took place in Nithari, on the borders of Delhi, in 2006, when she wrote about the tragedy and interacted with impoverished parents of the disappeared children.

He described a woman's desires and wants and her outlook towards the society in a new light altogether.


DARPAN makes an attempt to pay an ode to the women of Manto. Written in URDU, these writings were a tight slap on the then social structure and the male chauvinism.

Synopsis:
It is a story about two college students, Shiva and Hari, who became friends in their freshman
year. They had a lot in common, including their strong ambitions to achieve their dreams, which
required a lot of money.
As time passed, they both got into smoking weed, and soon enough, it became an addiction.
They started to spend most of their time getting high, neglecting their studies, passion and even
their friendship. One day, they realized that they needed a lot of money to achieve their
dreams and came up with an idea to start selling weed.
Their business flourished, and they were making a lot of money. but it wasn't long before things
started to go wrong. They got involved with the wrong crowd and started to have conflicts with
each other. Their addiction to weed grew, and their friendship began to suffer.
As they both reached the peak of their business, they lost sight of their values and were willing
to do anything to make more money. The shortcuts they took to achieve their dreams didn't
bring them true happiness.
In the end, Shiva and Hari decided to quit their business and focus on their friendship and
dreams in a more positive way. They realized that they needed to work hard and be patient to
achieve their goals. They learned that true happiness comes from doing things the right way,
and they pledged to never let their addiction control them again.

This October, let us celebrate the cinema of Ang Lee, one of the most creative directors of our time.

Ang Lee (born October 23, 1954) is a Taiwanese filmmaker. His films are known for their emotional charge and exploration of repressed, hidden emotions. During his career, he has received international critical and popular acclaim and numerous accolades, including three Academy Awards, four BAFTA Awards, and three Golden Globe Awards. In 2003, he was ranked 27th in The Guardian's 40 best directors.[6]

Born in Pingtung County, Lee was educated in Taiwan and later in the United States. He rose to prominence directing films such as Pushing Hands (1991), The Wedding Banquet (1993), and Eat Drink Man Woman (1994), which explored the relationships and conflicts between tradition and modernity, Eastern and Western; the three films are informally known as the "Father Knows Best" trilogy.[7] The films were critically successful both in Taiwan and internationally.

His breakthrough in Hollywood was the costume drama Sense and Sensibility (1995), which was also his first entirely English-language film. Lee went on to receive the Academy Award for Best Director twice for the romantic drama Brokeback Mountain (2005) and the survival drama Life of Pi (2012). He directed films in a broad range of genres, including the drama The Ice Storm (1997); the martial arts drama Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (2000); the superhero movie Hulk (2003) and the erotic espionage drama Lust, Caution (2007).
