Not a gay nor a part of the minority, not a lefty, or mentally ill.. Who the hell am I? Just a oversensitive guy.. confused.. trapped! Where do I go.. ? What do I do? Will drugs help? Or should turn a blind eye? That wont help, I have tried.. I have tried everything.. Everybody has tried everything..” Straight out of the minds of 21 year olds. The story of a youngster who finally goes to a reality show which is there to create an extremist, terrorist young force..

Is it fundamentalist? Religious? Regional? Certainly not! Exactly what happened with the young parents, involved in liberal, leftist, socialist movements in and after the 1975 Emergency? What happened with the concept of a free, secular, liberal and ideal nation worth to give a birth to a child?? What happened with the values and ethics which they expected from their previous generation of freedom fighters?

What exactly did happen in the last 21 years...

A very less percent of Hyderabad Population might have gone to Kashmir and seen or known it by themselves and if visited, even then wouldn't have known any ground realities. All we know, interpret is what we see, hear or read through media.

There is a unique thinking each one is having about Kashmir. Some see it as the Paradise, some say it was. For some, it maybe seen as a state that seen a load of bloodshed while some will see it as oppressed one.

The Urban Kashmir Project tries to capture a webbed compilation of your mind to create a collective Urban picture of Kashmir as we see. At the end, we would want to see how Hyderabad sees Kashmir it as of today. A mixture of realities

CAN RIGOROUS PUNISHMENTS REDUCE CRIME?

A discussion in context with the recent encounter and death penalty to rape convicts.

Revenge begets revenge, anger leads to anger, hate leads to more hate and blood lust has no end. People are seen believing and demanding capital punishment as the solution for henious crimes including cases of Nirbhaya and Disha.

Retributive justice punishment makes the offender pay his debt for the sin committed whereas reformative justice is about forgiveness, healing and reintegration of offender. Criminal law has moved from retributive to reformative as historically we have understood former theory only looks at the crime and the fitting punishment, on the other hand latter theory delves into various aspects of crime like the social environment, pyschogical, therapeutic rehabilitation, etc with understanding that punishment should benefit the society as a whole and produce more good to society than the harm of the crime.

It's very painful and disturbing to witness the most henious crimes occuring around us especially sexual offences against women. The way how these crimes are dealt with is more important as we have to check how helpful is the present system in curbing the crime and preventing it in future.

In the context of growing demand for killing of offenders we invite you to participate in a 'dialogue' on whether 'Rigorous punishments reduce crime' at Lamakaan on 18th January at 6pm.

Its a dramatic narration of two short stories written by sadat hasan manto (toba tek singh and khol do) which describes the traumatic conditions of the people of India when the nation got separated into two parts i.e. India and pakistan.

We have just accepted secularism as a constitutionally declared value but have not asked ourselves what it means to be secular as a society. We have just gone on mouthing slogans about secularism for decades. But we haven’t yet started discussing what happens when a society has to be secularized.

When communal crisis arises, people open their mouths and scream and shout and say this is not what they want from Indian society. But we don’t have enough people discussing what it really means to be a secular society.

Eventually secularism has become a curse word today. Fascists refer to it as sickular and people claiming themselves as secular are called anti nationals too. In order to discuss the real meaning of secularism and the way it is being distorted, In Defense of Reason and Lamakaan prog council is organising a discussion on 19th January 2020. All are welcome !!

The play, EK DURACHARO RAJA has drawn from Camus' “Caligula” the concept of deification of emperors which was common to the pagan world, the Greek and Macedonian kings. Raja (the king) discovers on the death of his sister and lover, Apurupa, that people die and they are not happy. From this point on, obsessed by his search for the absolute, poisoned with contempt and horror, he tries to exercise, through murders and systematic perversion of all values. He rejects friendship, love, simple human solidarity, and the concepts of good and evil. He takes literally all those around him like Taruni, his poet-friend, and forces them to see things logically, and levels everything around him through the force of his rejection. But if his truth involves revolting against destiny, his mistake is to deny humanity One cannot destroy everything without destroying one's self. This is why Raja depopulates the world around him and, faithful to his own logic, decides to strangle Kamini, his mistress, uttering his gospel of hate at everything around him. This play is the story of a superior suicide, as described by Camus. It is the most human of stories and the most tragic of errors. Faithless to humanity out of faith in himself, he accepts to die for having understood that no one can save himself by himself, and that one cannot be free while opposing humanity. The play remains universally relevant. It represents the face of contemporary despotism, not only in terms of the whimsical madness of rulers, but also in terms of how people react to such rule with a glimmer of hope for the future.

"What is Kashmir, but a simple beauty and an ugly truth."

Kashmir has been a conflict zone for more than 72 years, and the recent abrogation of Article 370 has plunged it into yet another crisis.

Come witness an inventive take on the history of Kashmir, from mythology to contemporary reality, touching narratives and counter-narratives that continue to colour our perspectives about the valley and its people.

This play was a part of THESPO- India's Biggest Youth Theatre Festival and The Roots India Short Play Festival 2020 and performed at Prithvi Theatre and at LTG Auditorium, Mandi House, Delhi.

Till now it has been performed 10times in different cities like Udaipur, Jaipur, Delhi and Mumbai.

Since December, people across India have mobilized to protest against the government after it passed a law that many see as discriminatory against Muslims, tribals, scheduled caste and scheduled tribes, lower and weaker income community, orphanages, old age homes, and the LGBTQ community. People, especially women have been on the front lines of these protests.

As an independent photojournalist, I have attended the organized as well as the flash protests in Hyderabad to capture the people's determination, energy, resistance against the system, against the discrimination, and most importantly, the unity and harmony which the system wants to disrupt.

I would like to showcase this resistance, as the people reclaim their voice, their power, their opinions in a photo exhibition over a period of two days. From 1st February 2020 - 2nd February 2020.

Badlav is an original hindi psychological play written and directed by Amaan Ahmad. Touching the core of Theatre of the Absurd, ‘Badlav’ is a one of a kind play that traverses through multiple questions concerning human consciousness in a twisted manner. Set in an indefinite timeline, the play questions the very nature of ‘change’. Gayathri, the protagonist, being a hypocrite herself, is determined to seek ‘Badlav’. A complex psychotic character who comes with an overflow of deranged emotions, Gayathri is perpetually restless. Kalpana is an absolute nihilist. She throws absurd remarks at everything under the sun. Meanwhile, Radha who appears naïve and utterly ignorant, unknowingly unfolds a series of poetic and philosophical aspects of the play. In some other unexplored dimension, we see two men immersed in a paradoxical, absurd and digressive conversation which takes unexpected twists and turns. Watch the play to see what happens with 'Badlav' and these dimensions.

Bheem is a Telugu Patriotic play written by Harsha Chakilam based on the life story of Komaram Bheem.

Komaram Bheem was a Telugu Indian tribal leader who fought against the Asaf Jahi Dynasty for the liberation of Hyderabad. Komaram Bheem openly fought against the ruling Nizam government in a guerrilla campaign. He defied courts, laws, and any other form of Nizam authority, living off the sustenance of the forest. He took up arms against Nizam Nawab's soldiers and fought Babi Jhari until his last breath.

He gave the slogan of "Jal, Jungle, Zameen" (Water, Forest, Land). It means that the people who live in forests should have rights on all the resources of the forest.

CAN RIGOROUS PUNISHMENTS REDUCE CRIME?

A discussion in context with the recent encounter and death penalty to rape convicts.

Revenge begets revenge, anger leads to anger, hate leads to more hate and blood lust has no end. People are seen believing and demanding capital punishment as the solution for henious crimes including cases of Nirbhaya and Disha.

Retributive justice punishment makes the offender pay his debt for the sin committed whereas reformative justice is about forgiveness, healing and reintegration of offender. Criminal law has moved from retributive to reformative as historically we have understood former theory only looks at the crime and the fitting punishment, on the other hand latter theory delves into various aspects of crime like the social environment, pyschogical, therapeutic rehabilitation, etc with understanding that punishment should benefit the society as a whole and produce more good to society than the harm of the crime.

It's very painful and disturbing to witness the most henious crimes occuring around us especially sexual offences against women. The way how these crimes are dealt with is more important as we have to check how helpful is the present system in curbing the crime and preventing it in future.

In the context of growing demand for killing of offenders we invite you to participate in a 'dialogue' on whether 'Rigorous punishments reduce crime' at Lamakaan on 18th January at 6pm.

Its a dramatic narration of two short stories written by sadat hasan manto (toba tek singh and khol do) which describes the traumatic conditions of the people of India when the nation got separated into two parts i.e. India and pakistan.

We have just accepted secularism as a constitutionally declared value but have not asked ourselves what it means to be secular as a society. We have just gone on mouthing slogans about secularism for decades. But we haven’t yet started discussing what happens when a society has to be secularized.

When communal crisis arises, people open their mouths and scream and shout and say this is not what they want from Indian society. But we don’t have enough people discussing what it really means to be a secular society.

Eventually secularism has become a curse word today. Fascists refer to it as sickular and people claiming themselves as secular are called anti nationals too. In order to discuss the real meaning of secularism and the way it is being distorted, In Defense of Reason and Lamakaan prog council is organising a discussion on 19th January 2020. All are welcome !!

The play, EK DURACHARO RAJA has drawn from Camus' “Caligula” the concept of deification of emperors which was common to the pagan world, the Greek and Macedonian kings. Raja (the king) discovers on the death of his sister and lover, Apurupa, that people die and they are not happy. From this point on, obsessed by his search for the absolute, poisoned with contempt and horror, he tries to exercise, through murders and systematic perversion of all values. He rejects friendship, love, simple human solidarity, and the concepts of good and evil. He takes literally all those around him like Taruni, his poet-friend, and forces them to see things logically, and levels everything around him through the force of his rejection. But if his truth involves revolting against destiny, his mistake is to deny humanity One cannot destroy everything without destroying one's self. This is why Raja depopulates the world around him and, faithful to his own logic, decides to strangle Kamini, his mistress, uttering his gospel of hate at everything around him. This play is the story of a superior suicide, as described by Camus. It is the most human of stories and the most tragic of errors. Faithless to humanity out of faith in himself, he accepts to die for having understood that no one can save himself by himself, and that one cannot be free while opposing humanity. The play remains universally relevant. It represents the face of contemporary despotism, not only in terms of the whimsical madness of rulers, but also in terms of how people react to such rule with a glimmer of hope for the future.

Kashmir has been a conflict zone for more than 72 years, and the recent abrogation of Article 370 has plunged it into yet another crisis.

Come witness an inventive take on the history of Kashmir, from mythology to contemporary reality, touching narratives and counter-narratives that continue to colour our perspectives about the valley and its people.

This play was a part of THESPO- India's Biggest Youth Theatre Festival and The Roots India Short Play Festival 2020 and performed at Prithvi Theatre and at LTG Auditorium, Mandi House, Delhi.

Till now it has been performed 10times in different cities like Udaipur, Jaipur, Delhi and Mumbai.

Since December, people across India have mobilized to protest against the government after it passed a law that many see as discriminatory against Muslims, tribals, scheduled caste and scheduled tribes, lower and weaker income community, orphanages, old age homes, and the LGBTQ community. People, especially women have been on the front lines of these protests.

As an independent photojournalist, I have attended the organized as well as the flash protests in Hyderabad to capture the people's determination, energy, resistance against the system, against the discrimination, and most importantly, the unity and harmony which the system wants to disrupt.

I would like to showcase this resistance, as the people reclaim their voice, their power, their opinions in a photo exhibition over a period of two days. From 1st February 2020 - 2nd February 2020.

The students all over the country are on the streets protesting today, for affordable education, against discriminatory bills/acts, to protect the Constitution. Amidst all this there are people who think that students can, will and should change the course of our history but there are others as well who think that students should just study and leave the politics to the politicians. Our HRD minister Ramesh Pokriyal recently said that students must keep to themselves and that they should not indulge in any political matters of the country. But history says else, be it freedom struggle for our country, struggle for seperate Telangana, etc students have always been the one lead revolutions then why do we still differ on this or have the times changed. A fairly faithful dramatization of an earlier literary work of the same name (The River, authored by Rumer Godden), the movie attests to a teenager's coming of age and first love, and how her heart is broken when the man she falls in love with is smitten with her best friend instead.

Jean Renoir was a French film director, screenwriter, actor, producer and author. As a film director and actor, he made more than forty films from the silent era to the end of the 1960s. His films La Grande Illusion (1937) and The Rules of the Game (1939) are often cited by critics as among the greatest films ever made. He was ranked by the BFI's Sight & Sound poll of critics in 2002 as the fourth greatest director of all time.

Badlav is an original hindi psychological play written and directed by Amaan Ahmad. Touching the core of Theatre of the Absurd, ‘Badlav’ is a one of a kind play that traverses through multiple questions concerning human consciousness in a twisted manner. Set in an indefinite timeline, the play questions the very nature of ‘change’. Gayathri, the protagonist, being a hypocrite herself, is determined to seek ‘Badlav’. A complex psychotic character who comes with an overflow of deranged emotions, Gayathri is perpetually restless. Kalpana is an absolute nihilist. She throws absurd remarks at everything under the sun. Meanwhile, Radha who appears naïve and utterly ignorant, unknowingly unfolds a series of poetic and philosophical aspects of the play. In some other unexplored dimension, we see two men immersed in a paradoxical, absurd and digressive conversation which takes unexpected twists and turns. Watch the play to see what happens with 'Badlav' and these dimensions.

Bheem is a Telugu Patriotic play written by Harsha Chakilam based on the life story of Komaram Bheem.

Komaram Bheem was a Telugu Indian tribal leader who fought against the Asaf Jahi Dynasty for the liberation of Hyderabad. Komaram Bheem openly fought against the ruling Nizam government in a guerrilla campaign. He defied courts, laws, and any other form of Nizam authority, living off the sustenance of the forest. He took up arms against Nizam Nawab's soldiers and fought Babi Jhari until his last breath.

He gave the slogan of "Jal, Jungle, Zameen" (Water, Forest, Land). It means that the people who live in forests should have rights on all the resources of the forest.
