Comedy Hindi Play - To Be Or Not To Be (melodrama)
About The Play - The original script “NIROP” is written by Dr. Vasant Sabnis in Marathi which has been adapted in Hindi by Mrs. Amruta Gharipurikar.
A protagonist, who is very much confused as how to end his life either by consuming poison or hanging himself because nothing falls for him in a right place. He is unemployed and has break-up with his girlfriend. While the protagonist is in the process of committing suicide in his house, his best friend bumps into his house with whom he shares his emotional and romantic moments. The friend doesn’t even refrain him from attempting suicide as he is aware of protagonist’s nature and leaves him in lurch.
Thereafter he is visited by different people for their personal means and reasons, knowing his intentions and not stopping him from committing suicide. Then at the last moment of his life a stranger comes to him and his thought takes a twist and changes his life.

Puzzles - A comedy series about young and jovial people, with different backgrounds and possessing distinct attributes, this play depicts, the first chapter of "Puzzles"- a regular hang out place in the vicinity. There is a blend of characters involving a science geek, experimenting on all the weird stuff and eventually on people around him; a theater artist who is always trying to flirt with girls but is unsuccessful because of his friends around; the news channel reporter who gets a modelling assignment, and a sensitive doctor, who is not able to find a right match to settle down. Despite of all their prejudices in their personal lives, there is always someone; sorry; there is always everyone, who have to impose opinions and make decisions, for their friend in need; sorry; weather they need it or not. The link of events, sarcasm, hilarious advents, makes the play so interesting and connected that the audience will not be able to stop laughing. The play “Daddy’s lil girl” is divided in three parts which throw light on the 3 major parts of a woman’s life. The first part is about how the parents of the girl are in doubt whether to have her or not, putting her very existence into jeopardy. This part has both the mother and the father present arguments about why they should or shouldn’t have a baby and another couple enacting the imaginations – both fears & expectations of the parents. How they come to the decision whether or not they should have a baby is showcased in this part. The second part shows the girl in her early twenties. She has just got a job and her parents are looking for matrimonial alliances for her. However, she doesn’t like any of the matches her parents bring forth. After a long wait, she does finally like one of the matches her parents bring and the wedding is fixed…but only a few days before the wedding she gets to know something about the guy that will make her rethink her decision to marry him. What is that thing..? What does she decide? How she copes with her decision? Does her family support her? All these questions are answered in the second part. The third part is a monologue that portrays the life of a highly successful woman in her mid-30’s and is a divorcee. She is tired of the questions she is asked at every turn of life, the justification she has to give for every step she takes. Annoyed at the change of people’s attitude towards her since the divorce, she expresses her frustration at the lack of support from her close ones and expresses anguish at the current state of affairs of the chauvinistic society. Directed by: Rahul R Directors Note: ‘Daddy’s lil girl’ is a depiction of the various stages of women life which are influenced or dictated by the allegedly ‘stronger’ sex or the same .This play is a unheard voice of the ordinary women who fails to express he distress to her loved one & also talk about how women can take control completely when required. We focus on her ….her sacrifices, her fear, her strength, her ego , her happiness , her love , her passion & her every lil thing …!!

Communities around the world have used the wonderful act of singing to bring people together, create positive energy and boost their morale. The Hyderabad Western Music Foundation brings you bi-monthly sessions of Community singing.
Participants are expected to have a basic interest in learning songs from all over the world in different styles, languages and historical contexts! So, if you love singing and revel in the sheer joy of music and understand what it is like to sing with a room full of people, this is the place to be!
This week we shall sing Gandhi’s favourite hymns like Rock of Ages, Abide with Me and others. Several of these well know melodies were used by him as part of his prayer life. Hymns have played a major role in worshiping God throughout centuries and have influenced and even changed communities for good.
This time round we again have an instrumental accompaniment in place to enhance your singing experience!

A film exploring the relevance of Kaloji Narayana Rao (1914-2002) in the current times, captured through his personal life and ideas of resistance. Popularly known as Kaloji or Kalanna, he was much loved and admired poet, freedom fighter and political activist of Telangana.

Mana Kaloji, was shaped with the archival interviews of his wife - Rukmini Bai, grandson –Santosh and Kaloji himself. Kaloji’s life, narrated as memories by his wife and grandson, has been juxtaposed with his own interview where he counters with his own ideas of life and resistance. Prayoga is an artist led initiative(Makerspace) which is conducting a workshop on a introduction into 3D Printing & digital fabrication for artists, designers, architects and students interested in Digital Fabrication .

The participants will be taken through a brief presentation on the basics of a 3D Printing and designing a 3D model to be able to print it properly. A live 3D printer will be present for participants to understand better . If interested in executing their designs they will be invited to fabricate their own designs at the Prayoga Fablab on the assigned day.

An introduction to CNC machining and the various applications it can have into creative fields of Sculpture, Architecture, Interior Design and Furniture. The workshop will give a basic knowledge of the processes involved in CNC machining from 3D Modeling to generating tool-paths for the CNC machine.

Prayoga Fabhub, Hyderabad is a Makerspace, Digital Fabrication center which is open for all to make, create their own artworks, projects using tools such as CNC, Rapid Prototyping etc by paying nominal fee towards establishments costs .

For students of Western Classical Violin & Vocals

Sunday 8th June – 4-5.30 pm at Lamakaan

Astrid will share out of her rich experience as an orchestra-musician, teacher and vocalist! She was born in South Germany, starting violin playing at the age of 5, as well as singing two years later. She enrolled in a youth university program, followed by studies in Berlin and the US and is since concertizing as singer and instrumentalist in duo with piano, in chamber-music-groups and orchestras. There she worked with renowned musicians like Menahem Pressler, Claudio Abbado and Vladimir Ashkenazy. As a teacher Astrid includes in her experience over a decade of teaching violin/viola at the University school of music, Hamburg. Her training as a body therapist influences the voice training and instrumental teaching.
After the workshop interested students can apply for individual master-classes or for a 2- months-course with Astrid!

Prasthaav is a play in Hindi, adapted from Anton Chekov's The Proposal, a hilarious play depicting romance and marriage. The farce explores the process of getting married and is a satire on the upper middle class and courtship. The play points out the struggle to balance the economic necessities of marriage and what the characters themselves actually want. It shows that marriage is a mean of economic stability for most people and they marry to gain wealth and possessions or to satisfy social pressure. Madan Sharma, a long-time neighbor of Shree Kamalprasad Varma, has come to propose marriage to Varmaji's daughter Radha but gets into an argument with her about the disputed land in Samtanagar and also about their respective hunting dogs. Does Sharma ultimately manage to propose or not ? Let us see if he and Radha really get married or not.

Jyothi started a series on Lord Buddha whose preachings influenced people from all walks of life and completed four paintings. The First was titled ‘Courage’ second ‘Fearless’ ,third ‘Dedication’ and the fourth ‘Determination’.
I started my second series on ‘Women’-First being ‘Aegle’ second was ‘Cybele’ and the third ‘Adithri’. They have been so titled to reflect the ‘Essence of a Woman’.
Another random painting on the occasion of our 65th Independence Day titled’ Iphigenia-Strong Born’ is dedicated to the women of the world.
She experimented with Dry Pastels combined with Oil-pastels resulted in ‘Serenity’ wherein a flower represented “Peace Amidst The Storm”
‘Lord Ganesha’s ‘ painting as the ‘obstacle remover’ was the beginning of the “Sculpture Series’.
It has been a wonderful and fulfilling journey which I plan to continue.............!

About The Play - The original script “NIROP” is written by Dr. Vasant Sabnis in Marathi which has been adapted in Hindi by Mrs. Amruta Gharipurikar.
A protagonist, who is very much confused as how to end his life either by consuming poison or hanging himself because nothing falls for him in a right place. He is unemployed and has break-up with his girlfriend. While the protagonist is in the process of committing suicide in his house, his best friend bumps into his house with whom he shares his emotional and romantic moments. The friend doesn’t even refrain him from attempting suicide as he is aware of protagonist’s nature and leaves him in lurch.
Thereafter he is visited by different people for their personal means and reasons, knowing his intentions and not stopping him from committing suicide. Then at the last moment of his life a stranger comes to him and his thought takes a twist and changes his life.

The play “Daddy’s lil girl” is divided in three parts which throw light on the 3 major parts of a woman’s life. The first part is about how the parents of the girl are in doubt whether to have her or not, putting her very existence into jeopardy. This part has both the mother and the father present arguments about why they should or shouldn’t have a baby and another couple enacting the imaginations – both fears & expectations of the parents. How they come to the decision whether or not they should have a baby is showcased in this part. The second part shows the girl in her early twenties. She has just got a job and her parents are looking for matrimonial alliances for her. However, she doesn’t like any of the matches her parents bring forth. After a long wait, she does finally like one of the matches her parents bring and the wedding is fixed…but only a few days before the wedding she gets to know something about the guy that will make her rethink her decision to marry him. What is that thing..? What does she decide? How she copes with her decision? Does her family support her? All these questions are answered in the second part. The third part is a monologue that portrays the life of a highly successful woman in her mid-30’s and is a divorcee. She is tired of the questions she is asked at every turn of life, the justification she has to give for every step she takes. Annoyed at the change of people’s attitude towards her since the divorce, she expresses her frustration at the lack of support from her close ones and expresses anguish at the current state of affairs of the chauvinistic society. Prayoga is an artist led initiative(Makerspace) which is conducting a workshop on a introduction into 3D Printing & digital fabrication for artists, designers, architects and students interested in Digital Fabrication .

The participants will be taken through a brief presentation on the basics of a 3D Printing and designing a 3D model to be able to print it properly. A live 3D printer will be present for participants to understand better . If interested in executing their designs they will be invited to fabricate their own designs at the Prayoga Fablab on the assigned day.

An introduction to CNC machining and the various applications it can have into creative fields of Sculpture, Architecture, Interior Design and Furniture. The workshop will give a basic knowledge of the processes involved in CNC machining from 3D Modeling to generating tool-paths for the CNC machine.

Workshop & Demo with Astrid N. Müller
For students of Western Classical Violin & Vocals

Sunday 8th June – 4-5.30 pm at Lamakaan

Astrid will share out of her rich experience as an orchestra-musician, teacher and vocalist! She was born in South Germany, starting violin playing at the age of 5, as well as singing two years later. She enrolled in a youth university program, followed by studies in Berlin and the US and is since concertizing as singer and instrumentalist in duo with piano, in chamber-music-groups and orchestras. There she worked with renowned musicians like Menahem Pressler, Claudio Abbado and Vladimir Ashkenazy. As a teacher Astrid includes in her experience over a decade of teaching violin/viola at the University school of music, Hamburg. Her training as a body therapist influences the voice training and instrumental teaching.
After the workshop interested students can apply for individual master-classes or for a 2- months-course with Astrid!

Prasthaav is a play in Hindi, adapted from Anton Chekov's The Proposal, a hilarious play depicting romance and marriage. The farce explores the process of getting married and is a satire on the upper middle class and courtship. The play points out the struggle to balance the economic necessities of marriage and what the characters themselves actually want. It shows that marriage is a mean of economic stability for most people and they marry to gain wealth and possessions or to satisfy social pressure. Madan Sharma, a long-time neighbor of Shree Kamalprasad Varma, has come to propose marriage to Varmaji's daughter Radha but gets into an argument with her about the disputed land in Samtanagar and also about their respective hunting dogs. Does Sharma ultimately manage to propose or not ? Let us see if he and Radha really get married or not.

Lamakaan hosts a One day Painting exhibition done with oil pastels (crayons) by Jyothi Janakiram on 14th Jun 10am - 5pm.

“Life is like a great big canvas and you should throw all the paint on it you can”’ With this belief Jyothi's journey as a Painter began.
These are ‘Crayon’ paintings done with Oil Pastels on chart paper. There are two series, one on’ Buddha’ and the other on ‘Women’ beside some random ones.
Her very first painting titled ‘Ecstasy’ was done a few years back and the journey continues till date where she has tried to explore everything that inspires her!
‘Musing’ was the second of the series where human mind and our thoughts fascinated Jyothi! Another random piece ‘MUY BELLA SENORITA’ reflects my love for ‘diversity in cultures’ in this world.
Painting Lord Krishna in an un-conventional way as a Yadava rather than the Almighty was a refreshing change!
Rabindranath Tagore the first Non-European Nobel Laureate who gave us our National Anthem was the perfect way to pay my respects to the great man on Republic Day.
Jyothi started a series on Lord Buddha whose preachings influenced people from all walks of life and completed four paintings. The First was titled ‘Courage’ second ‘Fearless’ ,third ‘Dedication’ and the fourth ‘Determination’.
I started my second series on ‘Women’-First being ‘Aegle’ second was ‘Cybele’ and the third ‘Adithri’. They have been so titled to reflect the ‘Essence of a Woman’.
Another random painting on the occasion of our 65th Independence Day titled’ Iphigenia-Strong Born’ is dedicated to the women of the world.
She experimented with Dry Pastels combined with Oil-pastels resulted in ‘Serenity’ wherein a flower represented “Peace Amidst The Storm”
‘Lord Ganesha’s ‘ painting as the ‘obstacle remover’ was the beginning of the “Sculpture Series’.
It has been a wonderful and fulfilling journey which I plan to continue.............!
“The only time I feel alive is when I’m painting and since every painting has a life of it’s own I try to let it come through!” claims this acclaimed painter.

There is a strong message against trusting fake babas, which is a trend that is on the rise especially in the interior Hyderabad. The play has everything Hyderabadi, there are the women who talk behind each others back, a timid bride to be and a senile yet funny dadi. The perfect boy next door, despite being a saudi return doesn't mind getting groceries for the neighbourhood and has everyone's adoration. Phrases such as kulattiyan maar maarke khaana, assalaam alil khaboor add a special hyderabadi flavour to the play.

"Idiot" is a simple story of a couple, who explores the reasons of other gender’s co-operation, kind gesture, help, selfishness, grabbing advantage of the opportunities etc.Husband, a journalist, is grilled by his wife for his second SIM presuming an extra-marital affair of her husband. On realizing that her husband is innocent, she ends up exploring the reasons of man’s kindness towards woman by envisaging the experience she encountered enroute to her maiden house. Further, Husband explains her that how he is been taken for a ride for courtesy of lift he extends to a lady in needs.
It’s all about the winning of values, culture & grooming over the situations, practicalities & circumstances without getting carried away by the prevailing state of affairs.
