Where freedom of speech, freedom of thought & freedom as such is a rare entity …!!! Hasn’t the world seen the most disturbing parental relationships, yet? The impact of a disturbed child hood is grave, not even close to what a non-victim can imagine!!!
The story of 4 roommates (Anil,Ajay,Sirish & rakesh) in a college hostel who plan to play a prank with their friend to pull his leg .These 4 have been together for a while now, they know each other pretty well. 3 of them plan to tell Ajay that his father is here & waiting for him in the room. He is shocked, because his father never came to see him in 3 years. He rushes to the room to meet him & finds out that there is nobody in the room except for his 3 prankster friends .He is irated because of the topic they chose to pull his leg ,’His Father’. The 39 Steps!
Sat Apr 19, 7:00 PM
The Lord Chamberlain's Men
The 39 Steps has 4 actors playing 40 roles over one and a half hours! In an absolute masterpiece of visual humor and comic timing, the play sees the entire film 'The 39 Steps' performed nearly verbatim onstage. The film's serious spy story is played mainly for laughs, and the script is full of allusions to other Hitchcock films, including Rear Window and Psycho. This is perhaps the ultimate spoof espionage thriller!

Dominic Wesley: English Play
Sat Apr 26, 7:30 PM
Samahaara
Samahaara
presents

Anjali Parvati Koda's
"Dominic Wesley"
(A Play in English)

Directed by Rathna Shekar Reddy

Wesley met us the other day and was like Yo Man What's been up and Dominic being Dominic goes "Surf, Tide, Heads" LOLMAX. You didn't get that, did you? You are such a Wesley. (If you got it, you are probably Dominic, and that's more bad news now, isn't it, you poor dear, you poor poor dear).

Wesley participated in a karaoke competition recently and lost to a terrific rendition of "I will survive" by Dominic, who unfortunately, we hear, was murdered the very next day. So…*she sells sea shells by the sea shore she sells sea shells….*

Listen, the above spoiler was posted by an intern. Will you come and watch the entire awesomeness though?

The Times of India - The play is well written and directed;with all the actors doing justice to their roles. The repartees between Dominic (the artist) and Wesley (the realist),kept the audience in titters.Filled with self-mocking humor, this play holds the audience attention till the very end...

The Hindu- The script and direction incorporate exceptional symbolism...The play by popular city theatre group, Samahaara was indeed quite fetching.

Sutradhar's Biryani aur Haleem
Tue May 6, 8:00 PM
Sutradhar
Sutradhar's Biryani aur Haleem is an adaptation into Deccani of Hugh Chesterman's 'The Pie & The Tart'. The play has been directed by Mohit & Deepti.

The world we live in is a very strange place. Some eat to live and some live to eat. In one way or another our lives revolve around food: some cook; some eat; some store it ; some hoard it; some starve for it; some steal it..Our very survival depends on food.
That is what the two main characters of this play are trying to do; survive another day in their lives. Salim & Javed are two beggars; like any other; they meet on a street like any other; on a day like any other. But what results is hilarity like never before.
The two share their stories; their ‘areas’; and their modus operandi. As they go from street to street and house to house pleading to people’s sense of charity, they chance upon the home of Ismail Bhai & his wife Pasha Bi. Ismail Bhai is a well known cook who has been invited by a Nawaab to display his culinary skills. Eager to impress the nawaab, he prepares a special Biryani and instructs his wife to hand it over to the delivery boy he sends.
The plan is overheard by the two hungry friends, who decide to change the route of the Biryani to their hungry stomachs instead of the Nawaab’s.
What becomes of Salim, Javed & the Biryani?
Find out in Sutradhar's Biryani aur Haleem.

Petrol,Health& Road safety -Talk
Thu May 8, 7:00 PM
JK lakshmi
Professor Edwards will talk about matters of energy, and personal and community strategies to address looming environmental challenges and engage in a short interaction with the audience following that.

World-wide, over a billion adults are overweight and 300 million are officially obese. The Energy Glut expertly tells the story of energy in society, and places 'fatness' next to climate change, as manifestations of the same fundamental planetary malaise. This exciting new book argues that the pulse of fossil fuel energy released from the ground after the discovery of oil not only started the process of catastrophic climate change, but also propelled the average human weight distribution upwards. The author presents a terrifying vision of humans besieged by a food industry that uses sophisticated marketing techniques to sell us mountains of energy-dense food whilst at the same time we are 'functionally paralysed' with fewer opportunities to move our bodies than ever before and that the accumulation of body fat is a political, not a personal, problem. This insightful new work offers and appraises for the reader a set of personal and political de-carbonising strategies, but to 'tread more lightly on our world' we first need to make sense of the systemic processes, and Energy Glut takes expert first steps in this direction.

Professor Phil Edwards is a faculty member and statistician at London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine. His research interests are in two broad areas: (i) transport & health, and (ii) evidence-based data collection. He is co-author of the book "The Energy Glut".

All are welcome. Entry - Free

Essence of Life-Jiddu Philosophy
Sun May 11, 7:00 PM
Dega Arts
On Jiddu Krishna Murthy's birth anniversary join us for a screening of his philosophy told in a wonderful narrative of Dance and Music.

We live in an insane and complex world. Our life in this world is filled with conflict, suffering and enormous problems. There is so much confusion and violence everywhere in this world. The world has become so chaotic and dangerous. Human beings have become completely helpless, indifferent and irresponsible. The external world is the result of our inner chaotic state. We have created this chaotic world. If we are able examine the workings of our own minds and see and understand the confusion within us, there is no doubt that we will be able to discover the cause of the external chaos within our own minds. But is it enough to only blame ourselves?
Is there a way out? Is there a way of redeeming ourselves and the world at large?
Essence of Life explores these deeper existential issues through different dance forms, articulating that the cause and here its our focus to make each individual to understand once own mind and thruogh this understanding be complexly free from once problems .In each of these dance farms in the script we highlighted the solution to our fundamental human problems. With an emphasis that you can be you own guru and find a permanent solution to your own problems. we assure you that if you grasp this with an open mind you will be the happiest human being.

"The essence of goodness is a mind that is not in conflict. Examine it, look at it. Goodness cannot flower through another, through a religious figure, through dogma, through belief, it can only flower in the soil of total attention in which there is no authority. You are following all this? Is this all too complex? And goodness implies great responsibility. You cannot be good and allow wars to take place. So a man that is really good is totally responsible for all his life. – Krishnamurti, This Light in Oneself".

April Fool ….pranks can be notorious ….but truth can be uglier ….!! How many of us have dealt with imprisonment of all sorts inside our own homes???
He pounces on them yelling, these 3 were in no mood to give up. They continue saying that his father is here, the 3 of them keep talking to a chair claiming he was there. After a while he kind of believes

So…she sells sea shells by the sea shore she sells sea shells….
