Adapted from the original Marathi play Shri Tashi Sau written by Yogesh Soman into Hindustani by Saurabh Gharipurikar.
This is a story about a Hyderabadi couple going to court to nullify their nuptials by divorcing each other for the final time. During the course of funny incidents, they realize that after so many fights they cannot live without each other.
Stick to your chairs as this play will take you on a laughter ride. Make sure you watch this play as this one will surely tickle your funny bone!

Inviting students of all ages from 13 years onwards of all schools and colleges for the Hyderabad regional round of Verba Maximus 2014 - the annual literary festival of BITS Pilani Hyderabad Campus.

The event will take place at Lamakaan on Sunday,5th January at 12 noon, featuring a Debate - which will be held for teams of two - and a Spell Bee. Winners get prizes and a direct entry to the finals of the respective events at Verba Maximus.

PARTNERS, A play originally by SANDESH KULKARNI and translated and adapted into Hindi by SHANTA KULKARNI.

This is part Month-long theatre festival by Rangdhara, Sutradhar at Lamakaan over Sat & Sun weekends at 7:30pm in January.

`Partners' depicts the bonding among the girls in the hostel. The play revolves around three girls staying in a hostel, one pursuing a job and the other two being students.

Though all the three have different attitudes, they have a good rapport and address each other as partner.

The play written by Sandesh Kulkarni and directed by Prakash Phadnis looks at the change of attitudes when they have to deal with a problem.

Vrushali is a sincere hard-working girl, who is systematic and is also religious. Her roommate Madhavi is tomboyish and cannot tolerate injustice in society especially to women. She is bold and frank. The other girl Priyanka is naive and simple. She is in her own world of imagination, smitten by a boy in the locality.

Vrushali, while attending an interview for a job is raped by the employers and she returns to the room shattered.

Madhavi insists on lodging a complaint with the police and making it an issue by informing the press, but the other two do not agree as it would lead to tarnishing the image of the girl and her family. A dejected Vrushali plans to leave the city, without intimating the partners.

However, a defiant Madhavi cajoles her and makes her change the decision, to fight injustice and move on in life.

The play showcases how women and girls who stay away from their homes need to stay united and share their problems and overcome the same.

Hindutva and Other Fundamentalisms: Fault-lines of Indian Democracy

3 part lecture and discussion with Biju Mathew. A Lamakaan Night School Primer.

The 2014 election season has seen the re-emergence of Hindutva as a defining feature of Indian politics all over again with Narendra Modi and his brand of communal politics. This three part lecture/discussion will excavate the 1920s origins of Hindutva, its founding influences and its role in the nationalist movement, followed by a brief outline of its withering in the immediate post independence era. The lectures will then track the re-emergence of the Hindutva movement in post Emergency India and argue for the political economic and cultural crisis that marks its most recent re-emergence under the tutelage of Narendra Modi. This is a must for those seeking a solid and well grounded understanding of Hindutva and the struggle around secularism.

The lecture by Biju will be majorly in English but participants are welcome to take up discussions in English, Urdu, Hindi and Telugu too.

This is the third installment of a new series of conversation sessions with the public on
issues of current interest in Science. We will have a short 20 minute talk by a
prominent scientist, after which the audience is invited to engage in an informal,
free-flowing discussion with the speaker. Interested participants of all ages are
welcome. No prior knowledge or expertise is required.

This conversation will feature Professor D. Balasubramanian, Director of Research at the L. V. Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad. A biophysical chemist by training, and a Padma Shri awardee for his many contributions to society, Prof. Balasubramanian is known to many for his regular column: "Speaking of Science" published in The Hindu. This Science conversation will be on "Cloning and the Uses of Stem Cells", a hot topic today both in scientific research and ethics.

Arunjyothi Lokhanday will be conducting a Kite-making workshop for kids using household material on the eve of this Sankranthi.

Lamakaan hosts a Handloom Bazaar for Sale and exhibit the Fabric of Freedom.

Woven in to the wonderful tapestry that is India, handloom weaving is a 4000 year old tradition. Handloom weaving is one of India’s predominant rural economic activities.This unique tradition has surpassed ages solely because of the magnificence of its craft, the mastery of its makers and patronizing consumers. Handlooms had a glorious past and o a penurious present. The handloom weavers used to live in a life of comfort and complacence in the past. They were respected for their invaluable craft that symbolized the essence of our rich culture and tradition. However, as time wheeled by machines began to exude dominance over human labour. In the state of Andhra Pradesh alone, there are about 320,000 handlooms on which about 500,000 families directly and 20,00,000 families indirectly depend for livelihoods. The recent years have witnessed migrations to cities in large numbers by handloom cotton weavers, taking up of alternative employment in rural industrial units and in extreme cases even starvation deaths or suicide deaths. The monthly handloom bazaar is one of the initiatives we are undertaking to bring back the wonder of handloom into mainstream popular culture, thus increasing the market for these products. In addition the exhibition cum sale hopes to educate the people at large on the issues of handloom weavers, and also on how to recognize the "real handloom" from fakes and "powerloom products". The bazaar will also include talks from time to time, display of weaving skills, and also will encourage children to learn these skills in an interactive way - like learning to use the "charkha" etc

Seed Exchange
Intipanta - Organic Terrace/Kitchen Gardening group encourages organically grown vegetables. Our aim is to help facilitate meets for the member to exchange information and also facilitate the exchange of open pollinated seeds saved by the group members.

This will be an informal gathering to say hello, have come chai, exchange some information and more importantly share the seeds we all have saved. Spread the diversity of seeds among others!

Who should attend: those interested in meeting others kitchen gardeners and exchange seeds. (even if you have no seeds please come and get some)

What to bring: Open pollinated seeds of vegetables, flowers and fruits that you might have. Any saplings to give away.

In the year 100 years of Telugu Cinema, we pay tributes to various doyens of the cinema. In this series, today we show a documentary on Rahman, cinematographer who pioneered many tricks with the camera when the technology was at its infancy. Rahman was one cameraman who worked most on NT Ramarao's Mythological, social and folk genre films like Tyagayya, Suvarnasundari, Narthanasala, Manadesam. These series of documetaries are made by Saichand Tripuraneni.

We will also recap another episode on Marcus Bartley, the fampus cinematographer for Vijaya movies like Gundamma Katha, Maya Bazaar etc.

Hyderabad Western Music Foundation invites you to "Music Course on Community Singing".

What is Community Music? How can we use music as a tool to connect people together and create the sense of a community?
Communities around the world have made used the simple act of singing together to boost their morale, bring each other together, and gain motivation.
HWMF is starting a Community singing project with bi-monthly sessions, from January.
The motivation is simply to feel each others' energy and understand what it is like to sing with a room full of people. It is expected that participants have a basic interest in learning songs from all over the world in different languages and historical contexts! For this reason, we have set the minimum age to 12 years.
The songs come from a variety of sources such as: Sea shanties from sailors, Folk songs from folk poets of India, Simplified classical songs / poems, Folk poems from around the world, Round Songs.
So if you are fond of singing just for the sheer joy of it, this is the place to be!

Abhaas ya bhaas is a play that depicts the problems and wishes of street boys who are deprived of minimum needs like food clothing and shelter and how do they react when they are about to die but are suddenly blessed with some more life are told that their wishes can come true.
What is it that they wish for and how much it matters to them. The play tells us the story of two boys who are spared and given a chance by yamraaj by granting them bonus of six hours and six wishes where each wish will last for just an hour. The baffled boys wish for the same every time they do.
The play is a satirical take on the destitute, politicians, and the ‘mango people’. Find out what happens in the climax. Whether, either of them die, both dies or both remain alive at the end of the sixth hour.

'Book Buzzers', a literary and book lovers are conducting their monthly literary meeting this month over a couple of documentary films on Legends from Telugu film industry.

Bookbuzz has been meeting every third Wednesday (or the next working day) at a pre-determined venue from noon to 3 pm over books and meal and the cost of lunch is shared by all the attendees. There is no compulsion of regular attending and there is no membership fee. However, a small fine is collected from late comers and members who miss consecutive meetings.The total amount collected is used to donate books to school libraries of under privileged children.

The emergence of AAP: a Symptom or Solution?
The political scenario in India witnessed a new wave of change with the emergence of Aam Admi Party winning the Delhi Election. Everyone is talking about it and the talk has penetrated to almost every city/ towns and maybe village. People associate a lot of hope with the party. One must ask where this hope and change in political scenario take us? What is the ideology of AAP that adheres to? Does it resonate with the ideals that constitutional forefathers have laid? What is the current strategy of AAP and its implication for democratic India? Why do people believe in the party as a promising hope? Or other way round? Are these promises realistic? And are these promises what people actually want?

To discuss this youth and experts from Hyderabad are coming together as a panel to put across their thoughts.

This performance is first of its kind on Rahi.
This poignant monologue shows how Rahi detested communal and vote-bank politics, and how he fought against the divisive forces in the country through his writings. He was a strong nationalist and a Muslim next who staunchly opposed pseudo-secularism. He was upfront against the fundamentalists on both sides of the divide. He was brutally honest regarding politics of hatred, and felt that the interest of communal elements among both Hindus and Muslims lies in keeping the two communities aloof from each other and to create distrust among them.

Singeetham Srinivasa Rao is a two-time national award-winning veteran filmmaker of over 60 films in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Hindi and English. Born in Gudur, Nellore district, he made his directorial debut with the Telugu Film Nīti Nijāyiti in 1972. He directed films along multiple genre's including cross over cinema (America Ammayi, America Abbayi), biopics (Mayuri), comedy (Michael Madhana Kamaraju, Appu raja), fantasy (Aditya 369), folklore (Bhairava Dweepam) etc. He co-produced and directed the first Indian black comedy, silent film Pushpak stands out as one of the best experimental films of Indian cinema. His collaborations with Kamal Haasan (Amavasya Chandrudu, Pushpaka vimanam, vichitra sodarulu, Michael Madana Kama Raju, Mumbai Express) have often met with both commercial and critical success. Before Singeetam started working for movies, he wrote for magazines such as Bharati. He scripted many plays, including Brahma, Antya Ghattam, and Chitrārjuna. Chitrārjuna was translated into English and played in Western countries. Saichand Tripuraneni pays tributes to the master storyteller with his documentary on Singitam in this 100th year of Telugu Cinema.

Sutradhar Presents 'Mah Laqa Bai Chanda'(A solo performance in URDU)

Mah Laqa Bai Chanda was an 18th century Urdu poet and the first woman to have a diwan (anthology) of her work. A multi-faceted personality renowned for her multi-lingual skills, mellifluous voice and dancing, she was also an accomplished archer and horse woman. Known to be brave, she participated in all the three wars fought by Nizam Ali Khan, Asaf Jah the II. The Nizam conferred upon her the title of Mah Laqa Bai Chanda meaning Visage of the
Moon along with the Jagir or estate of Adikmet and other honours. Mah Laqa Bai Chanda was a powerful woman in the court of the second and third Nizams of Hyderabad as she was frequently consulted by the rulers on policy matters. She was admitted into the omrah, the elite nobility and was the only woman to have been awarded this status.

Mah Laqa Bai Chanda was a socially conscious and enlightened woman who returned her debt to society by establishing a residential institution to provide less privileged girls educational opportunities and impart cultural training - a concept unique for those times.

This is perhaps the first time that a theatrical performance on the legendary woman is being performed and is intended to bring to life Hyderabad's most famous woman and acknowledge her immense contribution to Hyderabad's rich legacy.

They are sons of Senior Mridanga Vidwan Shri Trichur R Mohan and belong to the 'Sitaram Group', a traditional business family based in Trichur, Kerala.

The duo began presenting concerts in the late 1990’s and in a very short span were regularly featured in the Chennai December Music Season by various distinguished sabhas like the Brahma Gana Sabha, Mylapore Fine Arts, Indian Fine Arts, The Music Academy, Bharath Kalachar, Krishna Gana Sabha, Bharatheeya Vidya Bhavan, Kalarasana, Thyaga Brahma Gana Sabha, Parthasarathy Swami Sabha etc. They have also performed far and wide across the country under the auspices of prominent sabhas and organisations. Prestigious awards like the Musiri Subramaniam award from Krishna Gana Sabha for ragam and neraval, Best Vocalists from Indian Fine Arts, Yuva Kala Bharathi from Bharath Kalachar to name a few, have been bestowed upon them. The Trichur Brothers are also a regular feature in the Chennai All India Radio programs and have appeared on various television channels in India.
The brothers have performed for an Indian Association at Jakarta, Indonesia. Recently, they were on a month long tour to North America with their dad, where they participated in the famous Cleveland Thyagaraja Aradhana. After performing at various cities in the United Stated they presented a four and half hour concert at Toronto in the final leg of their tour.

Bharatanatyam Lec-Dem presentation by renowned Danseuse Rajeswari Sainath as a part of Hyderabad Literary Festival 2014.

Rajeswari has been hailed as carrying an 'imaginative splendour that goes beyond technique'. Trained in the purist Pandanallur tradition of Bharatanatyam by Indira Rajan of Chennai, Rajeswari has been performing from the age of 10. She continually renews and refreshes her artistic spirit through collaborative performances and through her intense involvement in the development of her students.

Sex, Likes and Pokes tells the story of three friends and their quest for sex. Sex, Likes and Pokes infuses slam poetry and theatre as one. The comical mocking of Facebook and the whole online dating phenomenon. Two friends make a bet as to which is the better method to find an ideal mate; the Facebook way or the old school natural way. Both friends find flaws in their methods but come watch and see who actually wins. Sex, Likes and Pokes is very Bangalore, very raw and very original. If you like adult comedies, this play is for you. This play is definitely not for the faint-hearted.

The artist sings three to four songs on climate change issues and engages children in an intensive discussion of what climate change is. The children will be introduced to the constituents of air, the greenhouse effect, ice caps, carbon footprints, etc.

Irish singer-songwriter Enda Reilly writes in both Irish and English and conducts Climate Change Songs Workshops initiative, bringing fun songs and environmental issues into schools and other groups.

Enda has represented Ireland at the Nós Úr minority languages event in Inverness, Scotland and his song Dónal Ná Fág sung by Aoife Scott, represented Ireland in Liet, Italy in 2012 for the minority languages song competition there. Arise and Go!, a collaboration with the Irish contemporary poet Stephen James Smith, which is a collection of poetry and original works performed by blending spoken word and song is going from strength to strength with their video of WB Yeat’s September 1913 being aired both on RTÉ’s TV show The Works and the IFTA award winning “No Country For Old Men” documentary.

The one act play, 'MAA….CHAAI' is a subtle hu¬mour and inexplicable emotion which revolves around a freewheeling conversation that a young man has with his pals the next night he loses his mother to can¬cer.

Vivek and Sameer visit Yashwanth's place to offer condo¬lences on the demise of his mother and stay back for a night. Looking at their friend's unusual behavior Vivek and Sameer wonder if he is feigning to be normal or is in a trauma.

Sameer, the most sensible, for the situa¬tion tries to shake down the hid¬den pain that yashwanth is either concealing or is not realizing. But the Yashwant denies and instead calls for some tea, ciga¬rettes and booze. Yashwanth and Vivek are completely drunk even as Sameer tries to explain to them the importance of mother, but the other two refuse to under¬stand him. He gives up and joins the fun and enjoys the evening while boozing & singing before falling asleep. It is not until the next morning when Yashwanth wakes up and calls his mother for the bed tea twice and opens his eyes to see his dead mother's photograph, does he realize what he lost and what he had done the night before and cries out aloud.

“How to get started” - a fun, interactive one day Free creative writing workshop by Madhu Kaza will be conducted for aspiring writers, story tellers, budding novelists and scenarists.

This is a part of ongoing Hyderabad Literary Festival.

Madhu Kaza is a writer, artist and translator who has taught college literature and writing courses at New York University and Bard College as well as workshops for general audiences in diverse settings such as community centers, cafes, jails, hospitals and parks. She is a co-director of Witness Tree Literary Arts Education.

Dr. Anand Raj Varma, Talk on his book “Hyderabad - Mohalle, Gallis and Kuches”, moderated by Prof. Rohitashava, former dean, Goa University.

Noted academic Anandraj Verma’s book is a collector’s issue. It not only tells the story behind the area names but also dwells at length on the historical structures, religious places, social customs and important families of each locality.

Mr. Verma, who retired as principal, Anwarul Uloom College packs his book with interesting anecdotes, little known things and exciting couplets.

In all he covers 30 localities situated on the south of the Musi. For this, he has made painstaking efforts to interact with 62 persons, who are well informed and have been part of the area all through.

Sharing Music – Creating Harmony

What is Community Music? How can we use music as a tool to connect people together and create the sense of a community?
Communities around the world have made used the simple act of singing together to boost their morale, bring each other together, and gain energy.
HWMF started a Community singing project with bi-monthly sessions.
The motivation is simply to feel each others' energy and understand what it is like to sing with a room full of people. It is expected that participants have a basic interest in learning songs from all over the world in different languages and historical contexts! For this reason, we have set the minimum age to 12 years.
So if you are fond of singing just for the sheer joy of it, this is the place to be!

If you haven’t attended last session, don’t worry – you can join any session fresh.
If you have – don’t worry either – we don’t repeat repertoire or warm-ups so it is going to be new every time!

This week is going to be all about Sea Shanties and Work Songs!
These come from sailors who sang at the sea while hard at work. It forms a part of the rich maritime traditions of several countries.

Citizen Café/Nagrik Nukkad (CC or NN) is a facilitated space for dialogue to engage citizens of this country from across socio-economic or regional segments. The objective is to help these citizens in:
- Making a powerful connection with the values stated in the Preamble of our Constitution
- Owning up and making meaning of their role and responsibilities as citizens of India
- Outlining actions that they can take in their personal lives, communities and the State.

The main elements of the CC/NN are:
- Group of citizens who volunteer to participate
- One/ two trained facilitators from We, the People
- Conversation anchored around the Preamble to the Constitution of India
- Small group conversations guided by around 2-3 powerful questions and followed by a whole group discussion.

On behalf of We the People, I am delighted to invite you to the Citizen Cafe – a space for dialogue, learning and action on our role as citizens. The Cafe is part of a pan-India initiative called Constitution Connect extending from November 26th (the day the Constitution of India was enacted) to January 26th (the day it was enforced).


Last year, in Season 1 of the Constitution Connect, nearly 800 citizens from 12 cities participated in the Cafes. 22 anchors volunteered their time to facilitate these and together created a buzz of excitement, interest and inspiration!! This year promises to involve more people from many more locations across India.
The Cafe brings together people from varied backgrounds in exploring the role we play as citizens in our democracy. Some the questions we examine are: What is the nation moving towards? What values do we stand for as Indians? What is my role in all this? What action steps can I take, now and this year, especially in the context of general elections? Who can I connect with for support?

Too often our role is of a bystander or cynic. Too often we believe that nothing works. The Cafe focuses on what has worked and what you and I can do to make it work. It will make you think, put you in touch with citizens who want change and move you to action.

The Cafe will be facilitated by We, the People. Join us. Please get along your spouses, partners, children and friends.

Tajmahal ka tender is a satire on the rank, file, red tape and officialdom.

This play is a part of Month-long theatre festival by Rangdhara, Sutradhar at Lamakaan over Sat & Sun weekends at 7:30pm in January.

The play evolves on an imaginary note, wherein, if Shajahan were to build Taj Mahal in this century, the hurdles he would face. It focuses on the organisational diseases that our country is suffering from corruption, favouritism, arrogance and insensitiveness to public needs.

The construction of the Taj Mahal is given to an engineer from the state, who takes this opportunity to make money out of the emperor and takes his own sweet time to start the process of construction. He floats a tender to accommodate his own men to gain and get the kick backs.

The engineer sets up a corporation for building the Taj Mahal and starts the construction of the office building for the corporation first.

Each time the Emperor asks for an update he gives lame excuses on one context or the other and in ten years time he also builds his own house.

Years pass by and there is no sign of the Taj being built and the emperor dies without seeing the Taj built.

However, the Corporation set up to build the TAJ celebrates its silver jubilee and the engineer gets extension of service.

The scenes in the play were what we see around in all the contracts which are being handled by different agencies in the country.

Mekhala Hiriyanna present us with an evening of Carnatic vocal music filled with various vaggeyakaras geyas and devotional songs.

Mekhala has been learning Carnatic Music systematically under the tutelage of her grandmother Vidushi. S. Lakshminarasamma – a Karnataka Rajyotsava Awardee.

Along with her grandmother, she has released an audio cassette at a tender age of 7. She has won prizes in many reputed organizations and performed at Rotary Club, ISRO, Indian Institute of World Culture, School of Ancient Wisdom to name a few.

She has also gained appreciation for her extensive writing in various subjects of Carnatic music and also for her Concert reviews.

In 2010, she was given an opportunity to perform Carnatic music at Alliance Française de Bangalore during their World Music Day. She has also represented her college in Visveswaraya Technological University fest.

Paying tribute to National Award winning Telugu writer and Lyricist Veturi Sundararama Murthy on his birth anniversary with Saichand's film on him.

Starting off as a journalist in 1952, he learned the basics of editing a news article from his senior at Andhra Prabha, Narla Venkateswara Rao, whom he considers his first teacher. In 1959, he joined a weekly called Andhra Patrika, where Bapu and Mullapudi Venkata Ramana were his colleagues.

In 1962, he became the first and only Telugu journalist to interview the then Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, who came to inaugurate Srisailam Hydroelectricity project. He covered the speeches of national leaders like Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. In 1964, he worked as an assembly reporter. His articles are said to be very catchy and witty. For instance, he referred to the meeting of MLA's in Hotel Dwaraka, near the Andhra Pradesh State Assembly as "Adigo Dwaraka- Evigo Alamandalu" ("This is Dwaraka and here are the cattle"). His writing style caught the attention of the film industry due to his prowess in using traditional poetic rules related to alliteration and rhyme for describing current affairs.

Sri.N.T. Rama Rao, has invited him to join the film industry] as a lyricist. In 1974, he wrote his first song, "Bharatanaari Charitamu" in the form of Harikatha, for O Seeta Katha under the direction of the legendary director, K Viswanath.

In all he worked for hundred of films including Sagara Sangamam, Sankarabharanam, Geetanjali, Manchpallaki.

Stakeholders and experts from the concerned will participate and provide insight. The general public is welcome to participate in the discussion and is not charged.

Nine-Eleven is such an incident, which shook the entire world. It had global implications in almost all spheres of our life. All the imperialist agendas were implemented as per schedule, in the form of destruction of Afghanistan, Iraq and Libya. Now, Syria and Iran are struggling to counter the offense. Therefore, it raises a big question that the incidents of nine-eleven were sabotage by any of the organizations or it was an inside job, used as a false flag. During this twelve years’ period lot of evidence has come to the surface and it is now beyond doubt that these were conceived, planned, executed by the government by using the latest technology to meet the pre-decided agendas.
All the investigations were merely eyewash. The nine-eleven commission report was purely a whitewash of the entire episode. After that the doubts among the public at large and families of the victims became stronger and there was demand of re-investigation of the incident of that fateful day. Hence an objective view about the same is need of the hour for a better understanding of this issue and similar contemporary incidents.
Therefore, a meeting is being organised on behalf of the Punjab Human Rights Organisation on the issue of nine-eleven

Kovelamudi Surya Prakash Rao (1914–1996) was a noted director, producer, actor and Cinematographer of Indian films. He was recipient of Raghupathi Venkaiah Award. He is the father of director K. Raghavendra Rao.

He started film production in 1948 with Drohi, wherein he also played the main character role under the directorship of L. V. Prasad. He named his production house as Prakash Productions and produced and directed some films like Modati Ratri and Deeksha; later on developed it as Prakash Studios.

Inviting students of all ages from 13 years onwards of all schools and colleges for the Hyderabad regional round of Verba Maximus 2014 - the annual literary festival of BITS Pilani Hyderabad Campus.

PARTNERS, A play originally by SANDESH KULKARNI and translated and adapted into Hindi by SHANTA KULKARNI.

This is part Month-long theatre festival by Rangdhara, Sutradhar at Lamakaan over Sat & Sun weekends at 7:30pm in January.

`Partners' depicts the bonding among the girls in the hostel. The play revolves around three girls staying in a hostel, one pursuing a job and the other two being students.

Though all the three have different attitudes, they have a good rapport and address each other as partner.

The play written by Sandesh Kulkarni and directed by Prakash Phadnis looks at the change of attitudes when they have to deal with a problem.

Vrushali is a sincere hard-working girl, who is systematic and is also religious. Her roommate Madhavi is tomboyish and cannot tolerate injustice in society especially to women. She is bold and frank. The other girl Priyanka is naive and simple. She is in her own world of imagination, smitten by a boy in the locality.

Vrushali, while attending an interview for a job is raped by the employers and she returns to the room shattered.

Madhavi insists on lodging a complaint with the police and making it an issue by informing the press, but the other two do not agree as it would lead to tarnishing the image of the girl and her family. A dejected Vrushali plans to leave the city, without intimating the partners.

However, a defiant Madhavi cajoles her and makes her change the decision, to fight injustice and move on in life.

The play showcases how women and girls who stay away from their homes need to stay united and share their problems and overcome the same.

Hindutva and Other Fundamentalisms: Fault-lines of Indian Democracy

3 part lecture and discussion with Biju Mathew. A Lamakaan Night School Primer.

The 2014 election season has seen the re-emergence of Hindutva as a defining feature of Indian politics all over again with Narendra Modi and his brand of communal politics. This three part lecture/discussion will excavate the 1920s origins of Hindutva, its founding influences and its role in the nationalist movement, followed by a brief outline of its withering in the immediate post independence era. The lectures will then track the re-emergence of the Hindutva movement in post Emergency India and argue for the political economic and cultural crisis that marks its most recent re-emergence under the tutelage of Narendra Modi. This is a must for those seeking a solid and well grounded understanding of Hindutva and the struggle around secularism.

The lecture by Biju will be majorly in English but participants are welcome to take up discussions in English, Urdu, Hindi and Telugu too.

This is the third installment of a new series of conversation sessions with the public on
issues of current interest in Science. We will have a short 20 minute talk by a
prominent scientist, after which the audience is invited to engage in an informal,

This conversation will feature Professor D. Balasubramanian, Director of Research at the L. V. Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad. A biophysical chemist by training, and a Padma Shri awardee for his many contributions to society, Prof. Balasubramanian is known to many for his regular column: "Speaking of Science" published in The Hindu. This Science conversation will be on "Cloning and the Uses of Stem Cells", a hot topic today both in scientific research and ethics.

Lamakaan hosts a Handloom Bazaar for Sale and exhibit the Fabric of Freedom.

Woven in to the wonderful tapestry that is India, handloom weaving is a 4000 year old tradition. Handloom weaving is one of India’s predominant rural economic activities.This unique tradition has surpassed ages solely because of the magnificence of its craft, the mastery of its makers and patronizing consumers. Handlooms had a glorious past and o a penurious present. The handloom weavers used to live in a life of comfort and complacence in the past. They were respected for their invaluable craft that symbolized the essence of our rich culture and tradition. However, as time wheeled by machines began to exude dominance over human labour. In the state of Andhra Pradesh alone, there are about 320,000 handlooms on which about 500,000 families directly and 20,00,000 families indirectly depend for livelihoods. The recent years have witnessed migrations to cities in large numbers by handloom cotton weavers, taking up of alternative employment in rural industrial units and in extreme cases even starvation deaths or suicide deaths. The monthly handloom bazaar is one of the initiatives we are undertaking to bring back the wonder of handloom into mainstream popular culture, thus increasing the market for these products. In addition the exhibition cum sale hopes to educate the people at large on the issues of handloom weavers, and also on how to recognize the "real handloom" from fakes and "powerloom products". The bazaar will also include talks from time to time, display of weaving skills, and also will encourage children to learn these skills in an interactive way - like learning to use the "charkha" etc

Intipanta - Organic Terrace/Kitchen Gardening group encourages organically grown vegetables. Our aim is to help facilitate meets for the member to exchange information and also facilitate the exchange of open pollinated seeds saved by the group members.

This will be an informal gathering to say hello, have come chai, exchange some information and more importantly share the seeds we all have saved. Spread the diversity of seeds among others!

In the year 100 years of Telugu Cinema, we pay tributes to various doyens of the cinema. In this series, today we show a documentary on Rahman, cinematographer who pioneered many tricks with the camera when the technology was at its infancy. Rahman was one cameraman who worked most on NT Ramarao's Mythological, social and folk genre films like Tyagayya, Suvarnasundari, Narthanasala, Manadesam. These series of documetaries are made by Saichand Tripuraneni.

We will also recap another episode on Marcus Bartley, the fampus cinematographer for Vijaya movies like Gundamma Katha, Maya Bazaar etc.

Hyderabad Western Music Foundation invites you to "Music Course on Community Singing".

What is Community Music? How can we use music as a tool to connect people together and create the sense of a community?
Communities around the world have made used the simple act of singing together to boost their morale, bring each other together, and gain motivation.
HWMF is starting a Community singing project with bi-monthly sessions, from January.
The motivation is simply to feel each others' energy and understand what it is like to sing with a room full of people. It is expected that participants have a basic interest in learning songs from all over the world in different languages and historical contexts! For this reason, we have set the minimum age to 12 years.
The songs come from a variety of sources such as: Sea shanties from sailors, Folk songs from folk poets of India, Simplified classical songs / poems, Folk poems from around the world, Round Songs.
So if you are fond of singing just for the sheer joy of it, this is the place to be!

Abhaas ya bhaas is a play that depicts the problems and wishes of street boys who are deprived of minimum needs like food clothing and shelter and how do they react when they are about to die but are suddenly blessed with some more life are told that their wishes can come true.
What is it that they wish for and how much it matters to them. The play tells us the story of two boys who are spared and given a chance by yamraaj by granting them bonus of six hours and six wishes where each wish will last for just an hour. The baffled boys wish for the same every time they do.
The play is a satirical take on the destitute, politicians, and the ‘mango people’. Find out what happens in the climax. Whether, either of them die, both dies or both remain alive at the end of the sixth hour.

'Book Buzzers', a literary and book lovers are conducting their monthly literary meeting this month over a couple of documentary films on Legends from Telugu film industry.

Bookbuzz has been meeting every third Wednesday (or the next working day) at a pre-determined venue from noon to 3 pm over books and meal and the cost of lunch is shared by all the attendees. There is no compulsion of regular attending and there is no membership fee. However, a small fine is collected from late comers and members who miss consecutive meetings.The total amount collected is used to donate books to school libraries of under privileged children.

The political scenario in India witnessed a new wave of change with the emergence of Aam Admi Party winning the Delhi Election. Everyone is talking about it and the talk has penetrated to almost every city/ towns and maybe village. People associate a lot of hope with the party. One must ask where this hope and change in political scenario take us? What is the ideology of AAP that adheres to? Does it resonate with the ideals that constitutional forefathers have laid? What is the current strategy of AAP and its implication for democratic India? Why do people believe in the party as a promising hope? Or other way round? Are these promises realistic? And are these promises what people actually want?

To discuss this youth and experts from Hyderabad are coming together as a panel to put across their thoughts.

This performance is first of its kind on Rahi.
This poignant monologue shows how Rahi detested communal and vote-bank politics, and how he fought against the divisive forces in the country through his writings. He was a strong nationalist and a Muslim next who staunchly opposed pseudo-secularism. He was upfront against the fundamentalists on both sides of the divide. He was brutally honest regarding politics of hatred, and felt that the interest of communal elements among both Hindus and Muslims lies in keeping the two communities aloof from each other and to create distrust among them.

Singeetham Srinivasa Rao is a two-time national award-winning veteran filmmaker of over 60 films in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Hindi and English. Born in Gudur, Nellore district, he made his directorial debut with the Telugu Film Nīti Nijāyiti in 1972. He directed films along multiple genre's including cross over cinema (America Ammayi, America Abbayi), biopics (Mayuri), comedy (Michael Madhana Kamaraju, Appu raja), fantasy (Aditya 369), folklore (Bhairava Dweepam) etc. He co-produced and directed the first Indian black comedy, silent film Pushpak stands out as one of the best experimental films of Indian cinema. His collaborations with Kamal Haasan (Amavasya Chandrudu, Pushpaka vimanam, vichitra sodarulu, Michael Madana Kama Raju, Mumbai Express) have often met with both commercial and critical success. Before Singeetam started working for movies, he wrote for magazines such as Bharati. He scripted many plays, including Brahma, Antya Ghattam, and Chitrārjuna. Chitrārjuna was translated into English and played in Western countries. Saichand Tripuraneni pays tributes to the master storyteller with his documentary on Singitam in this 100th year of Telugu Cinema.

Mah Laqa Bai Chanda was an 18th century Urdu poet and the first woman to have a diwan (anthology) of her work. A multi-faceted personality renowned for her multi-lingual skills, mellifluous voice and dancing, she was also an accomplished archer and horse woman. Known to be brave, she participated in all the three wars fought by Nizam Ali Khan, Asaf Jah the II. The Nizam conferred upon her the title of Mah Laqa Bai Chanda meaning Visage of the
Moon along with the Jagir or estate of Adikmet and other honours. Mah Laqa Bai Chanda was a powerful woman in the court of the second and third Nizams of Hyderabad as she was frequently consulted by the rulers on policy matters. She was admitted into the omrah, the elite nobility and was the only woman to have been awarded this status.

Mah Laqa Bai Chanda was a socially conscious and enlightened woman who returned her debt to society by establishing a residential institution to provide less privileged girls educational opportunities and impart cultural training - a concept unique for those times.

This is perhaps the first time that a theatrical performance on the legendary woman is being performed and is intended to bring to life Hyderabad's most famous woman and acknowledge her immense contribution to Hyderabad's rich legacy.

Carnatic Music concert by Trichur Brothers.

Srikrishna Mohan and Ramkumar Mohan are young Carnatic (South Indian Classical Music) Vocalists, popularly known as Trichur Brothers.
They are sons of Senior Mridanga Vidwan Shri Trichur R Mohan and belong to the 'Sitaram Group', a traditional business family based in Trichur, Kerala.

The duo began presenting concerts in the late 1990’s and in a very short span were regularly featured in the Chennai December Music Season by various distinguished sabhas like the Brahma Gana Sabha, Mylapore Fine Arts, Indian Fine Arts, The Music Academy, Bharath Kalachar, Krishna Gana Sabha, Bharatheeya Vidya Bhavan, Kalarasana, Thyaga Brahma Gana Sabha, Parthasarathy Swami Sabha etc. They have also performed far and wide across the country under the auspices of prominent sabhas and organisations. Prestigious awards like the Musiri Subramaniam award from Krishna Gana Sabha for ragam and neraval, Best Vocalists from Indian Fine Arts, Yuva Kala Bharathi from Bharath Kalachar to name a few, have been bestowed upon them. The Trichur Brothers are also a regular feature in the Chennai All India Radio programs and have appeared on various television channels in India.
The brothers have performed for an Indian Association at Jakarta, Indonesia. Recently, they were on a month long tour to North America with their dad, where they participated in the famous Cleveland Thyagaraja Aradhana. After performing at various cities in the United Stated they presented a four and half hour concert at Toronto in the final leg of their tour.

Bharatanatyam Lec-Dem presentation by renowned Danseuse Rajeswari Sainath as a part of Hyderabad Literary Festival 2014.

Rajeswari has been hailed as carrying an 'imaginative splendour that goes beyond technique'. Trained in the purist Pandanallur tradition of Bharatanatyam by Indira Rajan of Chennai, Rajeswari has been performing from the age of 10. She continually renews and refreshes her artistic spirit through collaborative performances and through her intense involvement in the development of her students.

The makers of ``Whats up with indian men??``, ``Cops, tints and other things``, ``Love, sex and mocha`` present `` Sex, Likes and Pokes``. Sex, Likes and Pokes tells the story of three friends and their quest for sex. Sex, Likes and Pokes infuses slam poetry and theatre as one. The comical mocking of Facebook and the whole online dating phenomenon. Two friends make a bet as to which is the better method to find an ideal mate; the Facebook way or the old school natural way. Both friends find flaws in their methods but come watch and see who actually wins. Sex, Likes and Pokes is very Bangalore, very raw and very original. If you like adult comedies, this play is for you. This play is definitely not for the faint-hearted.

The artist sings three to four songs on climate change issues and engages children in an intensive discussion of what climate change is. The children will be introduced to the constituents of air, the greenhouse effect, ice caps, carbon footprints, etc.

This is a part of Hyderabad Literary Festival on going in various venues in Hyderabad from 24-26 Jan - where Enda Reilly's country Ireland is the Guest nation for this year.

Irish singer-songwriter Enda Reilly writes in both Irish and English and conducts Climate Change Songs Workshops initiative, bringing fun songs and environmental issues into schools and other groups.

Enda has represented Ireland at the Nós Úr minority languages event in Inverness, Scotland and his song Dónal Ná Fág sung by Aoife Scott, represented Ireland in Liet, Italy in 2012 for the minority languages song competition there. Arise and Go!, a collaboration with the Irish contemporary poet Stephen James Smith, which is a collection of poetry and original works performed by blending spoken word and song is going from strength to strength with their video of WB Yeat’s September 1913 being aired both on RTÉ’s TV show The Works and the IFTA award winning “No Country For Old Men” documentary.

The one act play, 'MAA….CHAAI' is a subtle hu¬mour and inexplicable emotion which revolves around a freewheeling conversation that a young man has with his pals the next night he loses his mother to can¬cer.

Vivek and Sameer visit Yashwanth's place to offer condo¬lences on the demise of his mother and stay back for a night. Looking at their friend's unusual behavior Vivek and Sameer wonder if he is feigning to be normal or is in a trauma.

Sameer, the most sensible, for the situa¬tion tries to shake down the hid¬den pain that yashwanth is either concealing or is not realizing. But the Yashwant denies and instead calls for some tea, ciga¬rettes and booze. Yashwanth and Vivek are completely drunk even as Sameer tries to explain to them the importance of mother, but the other two refuse to under¬stand him. He gives up and joins the fun and enjoys the evening while boozing & singing before falling asleep. It is not until the next morning when Yashwanth wakes up and calls his mother for the bed tea twice and opens his eyes to see his dead mother's photograph, does he realize what he lost and what he had done the night before and cries out aloud.

“How to get started” - a fun, interactive one day Free creative writing workshop by Madhu Kaza will be conducted for aspiring writers, story tellers, budding novelists and scenarists.

This is a part of ongoing Hyderabad Literary Festival.

Madhu Kaza is a writer, artist and translator who has taught college literature and writing courses at New York University and Bard College as well as workshops for general audiences in diverse settings such as community centers, cafes, jails, hospitals and parks. She is a co-director of Witness Tree Literary Arts Education.

Dr. Anand Raj Varma, Talk on his book “Hyderabad - Mohalle, Gallis and Kuches”, moderated by Prof. Rohitashava, former dean, Goa University.

Noted academic Anandraj Verma’s book is a collector’s issue. It not only tells the story behind the area names but also dwells at length on the historical structures, religious places, social customs and important families of each locality.

Mr. Verma, who retired as principal, Anwarul Uloom College packs his book with interesting anecdotes, little known things and exciting couplets.

In all he covers 30 localities situated on the south of the Musi. For this, he has made painstaking efforts to interact with 62 persons, who are well informed and have been part of the area all through.

2nd HWMF-Community Singing: Sea Shanties and Work Songs!
Sharing Music – Creating Harmony

What is Community Music? How can we use music as a tool to connect people together and create the sense of a community?
Communities around the world have made used the simple act of singing together to boost their morale, bring each other together, and gain energy.
HWMF started a Community singing project with bi-monthly sessions.
The motivation is simply to feel each others' energy and understand what it is like to sing with a room full of people. It is expected that participants have a basic interest in learning songs from all over the world in different languages and historical contexts! For this reason, we have set the minimum age to 12 years.
So if you are fond of singing just for the sheer joy of it, this is the place to be!

If you haven’t attended last session, don’t worry – you can join any session fresh.
If you have – don’t worry either – we don’t repeat repertoire or warm-ups so it is going to be new every time!

This week is going to be all about Sea Shanties and Work Songs!
These come from sailors who sang at the sea while hard at work. It forms a part of the rich maritime traditions of several countries.

Citizen Café/Nagrik Nukkad (CC or NN) is a facilitated space for dialogue to engage citizens of this country from across socio-economic or regional segments. The objective is to help these citizens in:
- Making a powerful connection with the values stated in the Preamble of our Constitution
- Owning up and making meaning of their role and responsibilities as citizens of India
- Outlining actions that they can take in their personal lives, communities and the State.

The main elements of the CC/NN are:
- Group of citizens who volunteer to participate
- One/ two trained facilitators from We, the People
- Conversation anchored around the Preamble to the Constitution of India
- Small group conversations guided by around 2-3 powerful questions and followed by a whole group discussion.

On behalf of We the People, I am delighted to invite you to the Citizen Cafe – a space for dialogue, learning and action on our role as citizens. The Cafe is part of a pan-India initiative called Constitution Connect extending from November 26th (the day the Constitution of India was enacted) to January 26th (the day it was enforced).


Last year, in Season 1 of the Constitution Connect, nearly 800 citizens from 12 cities participated in the Cafes. 22 anchors volunteered their time to facilitate these and together created a buzz of excitement, interest and inspiration!! This year promises to involve more people from many more locations across India.
The Cafe brings together people from varied backgrounds in exploring the role we play as citizens in our democracy. Some the questions we examine are: What is the nation moving towards? What values do we stand for as Indians? What is my role in all this? What action steps can I take, now and this year, especially in the context of general elections? Who can I connect with for support?

Too often our role is of a bystander or cynic. Too often we believe that nothing works. The Cafe focuses on what has worked and what you and I can do to make it work. It will make you think, put you in touch with citizens who want change and move you to action.

The Cafe will be facilitated by We, the People. Join us. Please get along your spouses, partners, children and friends.

Tajmahal ka tender is a satire on the rank, file, red tape and officialdom.

This play is a part of Month-long theatre festival by Rangdhara, Sutradhar at Lamakaan over Sat & Sun weekends at 7:30pm in January.

The play evolves on an imaginary note, wherein, if Shajahan were to build Taj Mahal in this century, the hurdles he would face. It focuses on the organisational diseases that our country is suffering from corruption, favouritism, arrogance and insensitiveness to public needs.

The construction of the Taj Mahal is given to an engineer from the state, who takes this opportunity to make money out of the emperor and takes his own sweet time to start the process of construction. He floats a tender to accommodate his own men to gain and get the kick backs.

The engineer sets up a corporation for building the Taj Mahal and starts the construction of the office building for the corporation first.

Each time the Emperor asks for an update he gives lame excuses on one context or the other and in ten years time he also builds his own house.

Years pass by and there is no sign of the Taj being built and the emperor dies without seeing the Taj built.

However, the Corporation set up to build the TAJ celebrates its silver jubilee and the engineer gets extension of service.

The scenes in the play were what we see around in all the contracts which are being handled by different agencies in the country.

Mekhala Hiriyanna present us with an evening of Carnatic vocal music filled with various vaggeyakaras geyas and devotional songs.

Mekhala has been learning Carnatic Music systematically under the tutelage of her grandmother Vidushi. S. Lakshminarasamma – a Karnataka Rajyotsava Awardee.

Along with her grandmother, she has released an audio cassette at a tender age of 7. She has won prizes in many reputed organizations and performed at Rotary Club, ISRO, Indian Institute of World Culture, School of Ancient Wisdom to name a few.

She has also gained appreciation for her extensive writing in various subjects of Carnatic music and also for her Concert reviews.

In 2010, she was given an opportunity to perform Carnatic music at Alliance Française de Bangalore during their World Music Day. She has also represented her college in Visveswaraya Technological University fest.

Paying tribute to National Award winning Telugu writer and Lyricist Veturi Sundararama Murthy on his birth anniversary with Saichand's film on him.

Starting off as a journalist in 1952, he learned the basics of editing a news article from his senior at Andhra Prabha, Narla Venkateswara Rao, whom he considers his first teacher. In 1959, he joined a weekly called Andhra Patrika, where Bapu and Mullapudi Venkata Ramana were his colleagues.

In 1962, he became the first and only Telugu journalist to interview the then Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, who came to inaugurate Srisailam Hydroelectricity project. He covered the speeches of national leaders like Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. In 1964, he worked as an assembly reporter. His articles are said to be very catchy and witty. For instance, he referred to the meeting of MLA's in Hotel Dwaraka, near the Andhra Pradesh State Assembly as "Adigo Dwaraka- Evigo Alamandalu" ("This is Dwaraka and here are the cattle"). His writing style caught the attention of the film industry due to his prowess in using traditional poetic rules related to alliteration and rhyme for describing current affairs.

Sri.N.T. Rama Rao, has invited him to join the film industry] as a lyricist. In 1974, he wrote his first song, "Bharatanaari Charitamu" in the form of Harikatha, for O Seeta Katha under the direction of the legendary director, K Viswanath.

In all he worked for hundred of films including Sagara Sangamam, Sankarabharanam, Geetanjali, Manchpallaki.

This screening is a part of 100years of Indian Cinema.

Students of The English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU) are organizing a public forum on National Policy for Farmers as a part of the course titled Public Policy Education for Ph.D Education course work, Public Policy Education is primarily designed to instill values of academic activism, public concerns and critical thinking among doctoral students, to get exposed to real world issues, various policy debates and policy perspectives. Under this framework, we are trying to understand the structure, nature and formulation process of the policy in public spheres.

The forum will be on the domain of agriculture, primarily focusing on farmers. The forum will try to discuss the following.

• How we can strengthen our farmers and define his identities holistically, not merely as a farmer but farmer as an entrepreneur.
• Examining the issues of existing price and marketing and the legal framework to improve the income and welfare of farmers.
• Assess the impact of international trade on the livelihood sustainability and the viability of small agricultural holdings.
• Enhancing the productivity, profitability and stability of the major farming systems.
• Explore the involvement of technology in farming, GM Crops and its consequences.
• Crop diseases, attacks of pathogens, quality issues of seeds and fertilizers. Scales of finance and credit related issues.
• Transportation systems, issues of storage and processing facilities.
• Climate change impact on agriculture and natural disasters like flood, drought impact on farming.
• Why farmers are moving from village to towns.
• Identifying the factors responsible for imbalances and disparities to achieve equitable agricultural growth and development.
• Creating awareness on farming issues.

As a part of course work in Public policy education, EFLU students are organizing a public forum on national electricity policy, which involves in discussing the issues related to electricity like Power cut, climate changes due to conventional energy resources, alternative energy resources, commercialization of electricity, increasing price for electricity, environmental problems of nuclear power, politics of electricity policy making etc...

This forum consists of presentation of national electricity policy-2005 document followed by discussion among the stakeholders and experts' talks.

Food is not just a fuel to the body nor just source of nutrients, but it is the "source of life" to sustain. The human body is born and nurtured by the food. Food and medicine are not two different things they are the front and back of one body. The nutritionist has seen a sea change in dietary habits and attitudes of Indians in over 15 years, when she started her practice as a nutrition consultant, only few dietary modifications were required to make the diet balanced, but she observed the whole relationship with food has changed, When did it all change? · Food from being a way of celebration, to a battle at every meal, · From token of love to a cause of concern · From Sadhana to reach our higher self, to counting every calorie as if the world depends on it , · From Prasadm which was worth offering to Gods with prayer and joy, to unhappy guilty gluteney. The focus of discussion is on Indian Food. Due to lack of information and knowledge, Indian food is considered and become the unhealthiest food, suddenly the low fat (probiotic) Idly or Roti is considered as Carb (Carbohydrate) rich unhealthy foods, which need to be replaced Immediately by oats or muesli. Traditional groundnut oil or til oil are fattening and bad for heart which need to be replaced with imported olive oil or Canola oil including vegetables and fruits. Through this discussion she would like to bring out what food really mean to us and how healthy is Indian food. We specially invite elderly for this event, to participate and share their information, knowledge and wisdom on Indian cooking.

Students of EFLU are organizing a public forum on national environment policy. A brief presentation on environmental policy and its impact on will be followed by a discussion. Stakeholders and experts from the concerned will participate and provide insight. The general public is welcome to participate in the discussion and is not charged.
The purpose of organizing the forum is to examine how policies impact our lives. Also, is there any hidden agenda behind the policy, i.e. Whether the policy is neutral? This initiative is to decipher policies and policy making in the light of constitutional rights.

Students of EFLU are organizing a Public Forum on National Policy for Children. A brief presentation on the National policy for children and its impact on children will be followed by a discussion on present status of the children and the issues and problems that confront them. The focus of discussion will be: Education & Development and Child Labour. Academicians and social activists who work for children and their right will participate in the discussion to provide their insights. The general public is also welcome to participate in the discussion. The discussion is open to all and is not charged.

Nine-Eleven is such an incident, which shook the entire world. It had global implications in almost all spheres of our life. All the imperialist agendas were implemented as per schedule, in the form of destruction of Afghanistan, Iraq and Libya. Now, Syria and Iran are struggling to counter the offense. Therefore, it raises a big question that the incidents of nine-eleven were sabotage by any of the organizations or it was an inside job, used as a false flag. During this twelve years’ period lot of evidence has come to the surface and it is now beyond doubt that these were conceived, planned, executed by the government by using the latest technology to meet the pre-decided agendas.
All the investigations were merely eyewash. The nine-eleven commission report was purely a whitewash of the entire episode. After that the doubts among the public at large and families of the victims became stronger and there was demand of re-investigation of the incident of that fateful day. Hence an objective view about the same is need of the hour for a better understanding of this issue and similar contemporary incidents.
Therefore, a meeting is being organised on behalf of the Punjab Human Rights Organisation on the issue of nine-eleven

Kovelamudi Surya Prakash Rao (1914–1996) was a noted director, producer, actor and Cinematographer of Indian films. He was recipient of Raghupathi Venkaiah Award. He is the father of director K. Raghavendra Rao.

He started film production in 1948 with Drohi, wherein he also played the main character role under the directorship of L. V. Prasad. He named his production house as Prakash Productions and produced and directed some films like Modati Ratri and Deeksha; later on developed it as Prakash Studios.
