This summer Samahaara is conducting multiple workshops to cater to the ever growing demand for its theatre workshops in Hyderabad.

The workshops are designed to introduce the participants to the art of acting on stage, focusing on learning the basics of Stage acting, Movement, Stage geography, and Improvisation.

As always workshops by Samahaara are fun and handled by highly trained theatre professionals.

The second skit titled Homework written by Suresh Chandragupt in Hindi was enacted in Grips Theatre Style, where adults perform as children. The script was about six children going to school and on the way exchanging problems they face at home with parents who are busy and engrossed in their own work. The story focussed on how the children couldn't do their homework owing to their parents' indifference.

This Play by Nishumbita is Open to all and the entry is free.

Directed by Hartman de Souza,'Creatures of the Earth',is a 40-minute performance using movement, voice and a jazz soundtrack composed by Steve Siqueira. The performance depicts the sacred harmony between life and water. With a grant from the department of science and technology, this performance toured Goa extensively raising awareness on how water resources in the state were being destroyed by open-cast mining.

SPACE, Goa, The Society for Promoting the Arts, Culture and Education; actively supports young people towards professionalizing the arts and mentors Space Art Event, focused on the visual arts; Space Media Cell centred on film; and Space Theatre Ensemble with its core, the performing arts.

A leading newsmagazine called him 'the killer of Kitsch' noting the sea change he has dubbed into the otherwise one of the most flourishing commercial cinema trades in Telugu,the second-largest-spoken language of India. Narsing Rao stands tall with a firm commitment to meaningful, and yet aesthetic, cinema.

DAASI
(Bonded Women) (1988)
The film that won Rao critical respect is Daasi(Bonded Woman 1988). Set in 20's, it chronicles the unenviable life of a housemaid, who was in custom then, came as a part of dowry to a richZamindar's house. She goes through the back breaking routine of household chores as well as being expected to entertain zamindar and his male guests. When she gets pregnant, she is forced to abort. Narsing Rao, with the help of his cameraman AK Bir, recreates the graceful lifestyle of the privileged in limpid, sensuous images, as when the wife of the zamindaris bathed and coiffeured by her maids, and contrasts it effectively with his bleak suffocating world of the housemaid, whose world is not her own. This film won five National Awards, including the one for Best Actress, won by Archana who played her role with consummate skill.
'Dasi' bagged the Diploma of Merit award at the Moscow International Film Festival in 1989. Due to its meticulous technicality and superior artistic sense, 'Dasi' was considered a milestone not only in Telugu but also in Indian cinema.

is based on the lives of construction labourers and their interaction with cosmopolitan life.

With this event the studio wants to create an eco system for filmmakers to co exist & evolve, this is forum will address practical pain points of filmmaker like production (including pre & post), casting & other important issues. After the entire list of movies is screened we have a 30-45 min focused discussion moderated by the studio to find ans to some of the current problem of film making. A bi-monthly event held to promote short films; we call for short films entries to be sent to us. We accept films below 45 mins in this type. Your work can be submitted to Octopus Studios, the set of independent curator will go through the films & select a set of films. We screen selected short films to an elite audience who are short film enthusiasts. We introduce the filmmakers as well cast & crew to the audience. Narsing Rao is one of the pioneers of Art Film Movement in Indian cinema in general and Telugu cinema in particular. His movies like, MAA BHOOMI, DAASI, MATTI MANUSHULU have created a special sensation with their sensible thoughts and story. He had made sincere efforts to take Telugu Cinema to the world.

A leading newsmagazine called him 'the killer of Kitsch' noting the sea change he has dubbed into the otherwise one of the most flourishing commercial cinema trades in Telugu,the second-largest-spoken language of India. Narsing Rao stands tall with a firm commitment to meaningful, and yet aesthetic, cinema.

The filmmaker is also known for his talents in painting, photography, acting and music.

RANGULA KALA
Rangula Kala (A Colorful Dream), is about a painter whose life and work are in contradiction. Its only when he begins to paint his own experience and surroundings that he evolves into a genuine artist. Rao played the lead role himself and the film won a National Award.

DAASI
(Bonded Women) (1988)
The film that won Rao critical respect is Daasi(Bonded Woman 1988). Set in 20's, it chronicles the unenviable life of a housemaid, who was in custom then, came as a part of dowry to a richZamindar's house. She goes through the back breaking routine of household chores as well as being expected to entertain zamindar and his male guests. When she gets pregnant, she is forced to abort. Narsing Rao, with the help of his cameraman AK Bir, recreates the graceful lifestyle of the privileged in limpid, sensuous images, as when the wife of the zamindaris bathed and coiffeured by her maids, and contrasts it effectively with his bleak suffocating world of the housemaid, whose world is not her own. This film won five National Awards, including the one for Best Actress, won by Archana who played her role with consummate skill.
'Dasi' bagged the Diploma of Merit award at the Moscow International Film Festival in 1989. Due to its meticulous technicality and superior artistic sense, 'Dasi' was considered a milestone not only in Telugu but also in Indian cinema.

MATTI MANUSHULU
(MUD PEOPLE) (1990)
is based on the lives of construction labourers and their interaction with cosmopolitan life.
It received the Diploma in Merit award in the Moscow International Film Festival in 1991. Earlier in 1990, it won the National Award for best regional film in Telugu.

Another documentary 'Akruti' (shape) is about rock formations.
Beautifully captured, it brings out Rao's love for nature. It could pass the test of an international geography documentary. It won the Special Jury Award of the International Film Festival of India and also Silver Nandi Award in 1991. Rao says he owes his diverse talents to his rustic origins--the simplistic lifestyle of that rural folk, the pristine nature around, the naive influences, impressions and beliefs of people from the hinterland. In Telugu cinema circles, Rao is called 'The Killer of Kitsch', or one who goes against the tide.

A exclusive event designed for short films, to show case some serious work in the short films category. With this event the studio wants to create an eco system for filmmakers to co exist & evolve, this is forum will address practical pain points of filmmaker like production (including pre & post), casting & other important issues. After the entire list of movies is screened we have a 30-45 min focused discussion moderated by the studio to find ans to some of the current problem of film making. A bi-monthly event held to promote short films; we call for short films entries to be sent to us. We accept films below 45 mins in this type. Your work can be submitted to Octopus Studios, the set of independent curator will go through the films & select a set of films. We screen selected short films to an elite audience who are short film enthusiasts. We introduce the filmmakers as well cast & crew to the audience. During our 17th listening post we’ll look at some of the pivotal changes and influential musicians that have shaped the course of the trumpet over the centuries.
