🎭 Darpan Theatre Presents
Ek Shaam Munshi Premchand Ke Naam
A Theatrical Tribute to the Legendary Writer on His Birth Anniversary
Adapted & Directed by Ali Ahmed
🗓 Date: 26th July
🕗 Time: 8:00 PM
📍 Venue: Lamakaan, Banjara Hills, Hyderabad
Join us for a powerful evening of theatre as Darpan Theatre pays tribute to the literary giant Munshi Premchand, whose stories continue to resonate with readers and audiences across generations.
This special performance brings to life two of his most profound short stories—"Eidgah" and "Kafan"—presented on stage with emotion, depth, and honesty.
🔹 Eidgah
A tender and heartwarming story of Hamid, a poor orphan boy, who shows extraordinary love and maturity at a young age. While other children at the Eid fair enjoy sweets and toys, Hamid selflessly chooses to buy a pair of tongs for his grandmother to protect her hands from the fire. This tale speaks volumes about sacrifice, compassion, and the purity of a child’s heart.
🔹 Kafan
In stark contrast, Kafan is a dark and thought-provoking narrative about Ghisu and Madhav, a father-son duo paralyzed by poverty and hopelessness. When faced with death in the family, their response is shocking and unsettling. The story forces us to confront the brutal realities of social inequality, emotional detachment, and survival.
Through these contrasting tales—one of innocence and sacrifice, the other of despair and social critique—Ali Ahmed and the team at Darpan Theatre bring forth the timeless voice of Premchand with sensitivity and strength.
