Urdu Vogue: Bridging tradition and trend in the new age
A Talk by Huma Khalil

Rekhta Foundation is a prominent organization dedicated to preserving, promoting, and disseminating Urdu literature and culture.
Established in 2012 by Sanjiv Saraf, rekhta.org has become a pivotal platform for Urdu enthusiasts, scholars, poets, and learners worldwide. The foundation's primary objective is to make Urdu literature accessible to a global audience through digital mediums.

Huma hails from Aligarh. She studied English literature at Aligarh Muslim University. Still, Urdu runs in her blood, and hence, all her writings, filmmaking, events, etc are inspired by the rich poetry and literature from the vast treasure trove of the Urdu language. Huma's latest work is 'The Allure Of Aligarh: A Poetic Journey Into The University City.' It’s a tribute to her hometown and will be dedicated to AMU's centenary in 2020.

She is a member of the advisory board of the Rekhta Foundation, under which Rekhta.org is the largest online website for Urdu literature and language. She is involved in promoting Urdu Language and literature through the website and Rekhta's audio-visual platform with millions of followers worldwide. The Rekhta Foundation also hosts an annual flagship festival in Delhi, 'Jashn e rekhta, ' besides hosting events throughout the year in various cities such as ' Shaam e Rekhta.'

In this talk, Huma Khalil will share her journey with the Rekhta Foundation and the digitization of rare Urdu manuscripts and literary works, making them accessible to a wider audience. By leveraging technology, rekhta.org has successfully preserved and archived invaluable pieces of Urdu literary heritage, ensuring their conservation for future generations.
