Hyderabad Cinephiles is screening Satyajit Ray's Mahanagar (1963) at 7pm, on Saturday, 21 January at Lamakaan, Banjara Hills. Mahanagar was Ray's answer to the questions of his time, as he inspects the fabric of the family amid changing economic conditions. Based on a short story by Narendranath Mitra, the film follows Aarti, a young wife's entry into the workforce and the changes created in her personal and new professional life. The screening will be followed by a discussion.
