CAST: Ali Ahmed, K. rahul
The film loosely meaning 'Blood leaves a trail' made over nine years, enters the vexed political scenario in Kashmir through the lives of families of the victims of enforced disappearances. It explores memory as a mode of resistance, constantly confronting reality and morphing from the personal to the political, the individual to the collective. Struggling to find new ways of expression - storytelling, art, symbol and ritual - sometimes spilling out on to the streets, it looks at the ways in which those affected by violence have no choice but to remember. The chain of memory, often non-linear, is both their defense as well as their act of defiance against powerful instruments of the state that try to erase their individuality.
The conflict in Kashmir is among the long-standing political conflicts in the world. It has taken a heavy toll on lives, on sanity and on the idea of normality. While it has turned the Indian state coarse and brutal, it has turned the local population, recipients of several decades of unrelenting violence, defiant and angry.
The film is a non-sequential account of personal narratives and reminiscences ruptured by violence, undermined by erasure and over-ridden by official documents that challenge truth. Opening out the real and the human as against the abstract and the brutal the film seeks to confront advocates of amnesia in Kashmir as well as in other conflict zones. It questions the militaristic approach to resolve political problems, by which communities and lives within it get invaded and destroyed, even as it shatters personal dreams and desires. The film appeals for a political resolution to the Kashmir issue, which has by now affected five generations of people in the region.

Mr. Durgam would like to state few points on the Kakatiya rule. In these 692 years, since the curtains were down on Kakatiya dynasty as Prataparudra was arrested in 1324; so many stories have been in circulation about Kakatiyas. Though, Kakatiyas rule was not that old, much research has not been done and importance not given so far to know the true facts.
After the Telangana state is formed, as TSPSC has included Kakatiya history in the curriculum, dialogue about the Kakatiya rule is greater now than ever before.

Mataang, the epitome of manipulation, relegates his wife to a position of inferiority and subjugation tantamounting almost to the bonded position of Paatan. Religious traditions, under the preponderant influence of Hinduism, provide the ideological basis for patriarchy and assign women an inferior role in the family and society.

There is a poet on the streets of Delhi called ‘Vidrohi’ – the rebel. He roams around the old city, spouting Molotov cocktails of words. The citizen name of the ‘Vidrohi’ is Ramashankar Yadav, a raggedy old man from Sultanpur. Vidrohi is a title that has been conferred to Indian poets before, such as Kazi Najrul Islam and Damodar Swarup, but has it had such an organic development so as to overshadow the real name.
The subjects of his poems deal with universal struggle and suffering, imbued with socio-political perspectives. He uses historical places, times and names to constitute his subjects with historical relevance. There is a history behind each system of oppression and a game of constant manipulation to make people forget that history. Vidrohi’s poems fight against the politics of re-memory and re-interpretation by retelling and reconstructing the discourse of suffering.
His poems are mostly composed in Hindi. He uses everyday phrases in his poems to make them comprehensible to people from all walks of life, but even with ordinary words he creates powerful images, like a burnt corpse of a woman lying on the last step of Mohenjodaro, her corpse embodying the history of continuous exploitation and violence committed by imperialist powers all over the world. He also writes about the interconnectedness of class and gender oppression. Each of his poems deal with one powerful image around which he constructs the narrative.
Ramashankar Yadav is a people’s poet, a rebel at heart who carries on the legacy of poets like Kabir and Nagarjun. He spends most of his time around Delhi and inside Jawaharlal Nehru University’s campus. A former student of JNU, he was rusticated from the University for being part of a mass movement in the 80s. It was after this incident that he started living under the trees inside the campus. Away from his faraway home and wife, Vidrohi has chosen the life of a vagabond, roaming around with his bag full of the poetry of rebellion. There is no bitterness between his family members and himself for his chosen lifestyle of living on the streets. He lives off people’s kindness, living by the people he writes for, of which JNU students play a crucial part.
This film was to be on a poet and his poetry. It became a story of a person who lives a poem. We try to understand the person we see the poem, we try to understand the poetry; the poet comes and stands in front of us. And as we journey through the poetry and the poet, we end up with a mirror. In the mirror, a roughly-hewn life, small, innocent.... a dream-like existence, in the scrub forest, among the silent ruins, the old streets in the middle of the polis.
The poetry slowly shows us the way, and the way slowly becomes poetry Ramashankar Vidrohi has never written poetry, he speaks out poetry. He is poet of our unknown, unorganized, underground nation. He is the poet of those whose constituency is always bearing the cost of empire builders, the women, the children, and the billions who lie on the steps to the center of power structure.
Film has won International Award for Best Documentary at MIFF ( Mumbai International Documentary Festival 2011).

Play :Ek Saam Premchand Ke Naam
Synopsis
The play is an amalgamation of two of Premchand’s stories, ‘Kafan’ and ‘Sadgati’. Both explore death in unlikely circumstances and play themselves out with unexpected twists and turns, all laced with the author’s humanist, equalitarian and socialist ideas. The two stories recreate the vivid reality of the Dalits, exposing pretensions and complacencies of dominant, feudal and patriarchal social forces.
The stories, that reveal the extraordinary range of Premchand’s writing, are blended together in a non-linear yet seamless narrative using ‘Burra-Katha’ - a performance art rooted in traditional storytelling, dance movement, and music in Andhra and Telangana regions.
About the author
Premchand (1880-1936) was the author of numerous short stories, novels and a play. Some of his best known works include Godan (1936), Rangabhumi (1925), Nirmala (1928), Gaban (1931) and Karmabhumi (1932). He wrote both in Hindi and Urdu.

Documentary screening and Panel Discussion
Organized by
Food Sovereignty Alliance, India
In 2015, Hyderabad saw the entry of several new dairy brands, like Amul, Nandini, Parag, Narmul, etc, selling milk at incredibly low prices. Whilst consumers in the city celebrated this apparent bonanza, unbeknown to them, at the same time, small farmers, who produce the milk, were literally pouring milk onto the roads in utter despair: Companies and Cooperatives had drastically reduced the prices at which they were purchasing milk, were paying them far below their cost of production and were turning back their milk, Whilst milk producers are being paid Rs18-20/litre of cows milk (a bottle of mineral water today costs Rs 20/litre) , they expend Rs 28-30 to produce that litre of milk.
Many consumers began to pressure small vendors who deliver their fresh milk, to reduce the price, or said they would shift to cheaper “brand” milk. Reducing the price, would once again result in vendors and small farmers being thrown out of their livelihoods.
What is the story of this cheap milk? Why are small farmers who produce the milk we drink being driven out of their livelihoods? Do brands matter? Is packet milk different from fresh milk delivered by milkmen? Why does the dairy boom in India spell the deathknell for small farmers ? There is an urgent need to understand the milk we drink, from “grass to glass”.
This panel discussion will focus on understanding the current paradox of cheap milk for consumers, whilst farmers are driven to debt, and pushed out of production. Farmers of AP and Telangana, milk vendors, dairy processors and co-producers will discuss these realities.
A documentary produced by the Food Sovereignty Alliance - “Killing Our Livelihoods: The Juggernaut of Industrial Dairy Market” will be screened.

Pratibimb:
The world outside is a reflection of who we are within. The way we see things and react to them simply shows what we are made of inside. Pratibimb is an attempt to show, what we have become as a society, to give an insight to our thoughts, our understanding of the creation around us.
Here we want put in front of the audience things that everyone wants to ignore, issues that matter but are not convenient to confront. Issues that are eating away the essence of being human because we simply do not want to do anything about it, we do not want to understand and come to terms with the truth. Pratibimb as the name suggests is a reflection of WHO WE ARE.
Lathi ki Goonj:
"Laathi ki goonj" is a mime that revolves around Mahatma Gandhi his doctrines and teachings, which have lost their meaning in the present day society. It vividly describes how we have lost touch with our value system, and how we are continuously forgetting our roots and invading our own identity. It dramatizes in a short span the fall of our generations and how we are oblivious to the "laathi ki goonj" , which is lost and we can no longer hear it.
Kashish:
“Kashish” is love story of two lesbian lovers Sana and Vidhi. This mute play symbolically describes how difficult it is for people of a different sexual orientation to come out in the open, because our society vehemently resents and repels them. It is a small story that shows what happens when one such couple decides to break the shackles and come out of the closet. It shows their relationship, their bonding and then how the world outside reacts to it.
Asmita:
An act which not only revolves around a girl who is victimized for a heinous act, they call it “Rape”. But also, questions the whole institution on which the society works. The act shows how the victim faces problems in leading a normal life again and how the society remains indifferent about it. It talks about the repercussions of two types of crimes.
One which the man who raped has committed and the other committed by the girl victim. How the whole agenda of the society changes. And how the victim finally loses the battle with the society, herself and her life!!

History, and literature are witnesses, that the other, the one that is not the self, has always been misunderstood, ostracized, silenced and locked up. Whenever someone has challenged the rules by which this world works, the world has been merciless towards him or her. The eternal mad man/madwoman in the attic thus lives on, unheard, unseen and separated by the excuse of insanity from the world outside.
'The Sealed Attic' is an attempt to give voice to the madness locked away from the vision of sanity since time immemorial. We have used theatre as a device to explore the words of Shakespeare, Shelley and Dostoevsky, to traverse through this madness.
Come, explore the sealed attic with us.
