About Wong Kar-wai: Wong Kar-wai (born 17 July 1958) is a Hong Kong film director, screenwriter, and producer. His films are characterized by nonlinear narratives, atmospheric music, and vivid cinematography involving bold, saturated colors. A pivotal figure of Hong Kong cinema, Wong is considered a contemporary auteur and ranks third on Sight & Sound's 2002 poll of the greatest filmmakers of the previous 25 years. His films frequently appear on best-of lists domestically and internationally.
Born in Shanghai, Wong emigrated to British Hong Kong as a child with his family. He began a career as a screenwriter for soap operas before transitioning to directing with his debut, the crime drama As Tears Go By (1988). While As Tears Go By was fairly successful in Hong Kong, Wong moved away from the contemporary trend of crime and action movies to embark on more personal filmmaking styles. Days of Being Wild (1990), his first venture in such a direction, did not perform well at the box office. It, however, received critical acclaim and won Best Film and Best Director at the 1991 Hong Kong Film Awards. His next film, Ashes of Time (1994), met with a mixed reception because of its vague plot and atypical take on the wuxia genre.

During a dispute with his wife Burcu, Oray pronounces the Islamic divorce formula "talaq". The imam explains the consequences to him: Oray has to part with Burcu for three months. Oray uses the relationship break imposed on them to make a new start and moves to Cologne. Here he finds a job at a flea market and looks for a new community led by the young Imam Bilal. Oray soon begins preaching himself and is particularly popular with young parishioners, which arouses envy in Bilal. When Burcu pays her husband a surprise visit, they realize that the break has done them good. They still love each other. So he asks Bilal for advice. But he represents a stricter interpretation of Islamic law than the imam in his home community:
In an almost documentary style, director Mehmet Akif Büyükatalay tells how an individual works through the complex system of a religion and seeks human fulfillment between his belief in love and his love for faith.

Sahir: In Love with Being Human
An interactive, audio-visual talk about Humanism in Sahir Ludhianvi’s poetry
Humanism is inherent to Sahir’s romanticism. Even amongst severe tempests of the heart, Sahir does not succumb to carnal desires of the flesh but remains devoted to duty. Interspersed with moving film songs, the lecture illustrates how Sahir’s romantic poetry is distinctly different since it maintains dignity even in the throes of sensuality.
A diehard humanist, Deepak Mahaan is a pioneering radio, TV and film professional whose creations have won accolades and awards at major channels and film festivals. An ardent admirer of Urdu-Hindi poets & lyricists, the long-standing film columnist of “THE HINDU” also unravels that despite limitations of film stories and situations, Sahir always rendered exquisite poetry to inspire the finest virtues of the human heart.
Mahaan’s spontaneous lectures on the same topic have been highly applauded at prominent platforms like Progressive Writers’ Forum, University of Rajasthan, Vasundhara Sahitya Foundation and University of Fraser Valley, Canada as well as several film and art societies.

The Osmania General Hospital is a hundred year old landmark on the northern banks of the river Musi in Hyderabad. Constructed in 1919, it has served hundreds of thousands of patients over the years. Tens of thousands of medical professionals have trained here. Unsurprisingly, any talk of altering this iconic building triggers strong emotional reactions.
Yet, in the last 100 years, hospital management techniques have changed. Diagnostic and treatment technologies have changed. Administrative apathy, lack of adequate funding, and callousness of successive governments have negatively affected the building and its infrastructure.
The building as it stands is not serving the needs of the professionals and the patients. The question is, should the building be demolished and a new state of the art hospital building be constructed ? Or, can the building be upgraded and retrofitted to continue to serve as a hospital ? Or can the building be turned into a model of adaptive reuse (e.g. a museum of modern medicine) – while redeveloping the remaining estate into a new hospital

She brought to the fore the modernity inherent in the actions of the poorest of rural Indian women as well as the stagnation in the minds of the so called urban elite.
Ruthlessly honest and deeply perceptive, she presented the truth of society and its women in the same nakedness in which she saw them. She wrote with a rare courage, truth and good humour which endear her to everyone who comes across her writings.
The first story, Saas (Mother-in-law), is about a unique saas-bahu pair and adds a new dimension to this perceived notorious relationship.
The second is Chidi Ki Dukki (The Second Card of Clubs) which speaks volumes about how wit and attitude in a woman can be more attractive than the supposed good looks.
