Puzzles - A comedy series about young and jovial people, with different backgrounds and possessing distinct attributes, this play depicts, the first chapter of "Puzzles"- a regular hang out place in the vicinity. There is a blend of characters involving a science geek, experimenting on all the weird stuff and eventually on people around him; a theater artist who is always trying to flirt with girls but is unsuccessful because of his friends around; the news channel reporter who gets a modelling assignment, and a sensitive doctor, who is not able to find a right match to settle down. Despite of all their prejudices in their personal lives, there is always someone; sorry; there is always everyone, who have to impose opinions and make decisions, for their friend in need; sorry; weather they need it or not. The link of events, sarcasm, hilarious advents, makes the play so interesting and connected that the audience will not be able to stop laughing. Prayoga is an artist led initiative(Makerspace) which is conducting a workshop on a introduction into 3D Printing & digital fabrication for artists, designers, architects and students interested in Digital Fabrication .

The participants will be taken through a brief presentation on the basics of a 3D Printing and designing a 3D model to be able to print it properly. A live 3D printer will be present for participants to understand better . If interested in executing their designs they will be invited to fabricate their own designs at the Prayoga Fablab on the assigned day.

An introduction to CNC machining and the various applications it can have into creative fields of Sculpture, Architecture, Interior Design and Furniture. The workshop will give a basic knowledge of the processes involved in CNC machining from 3D Modeling to generating tool-paths for the CNC machine.

Prayoga Fabhub, Hyderabad is a Makerspace, Digital Fabrication center which is open for all to make, create their own artworks, projects using tools such as CNC, Rapid Prototyping etc by paying nominal fee towards establishments costs .

Astrid will share out of her rich experience as an orchestra-musician, teacher and vocalist! She was born in South Germany, starting violin playing at the age of 5, as well as singing two years later. She enrolled in a youth university program, followed by studies in Berlin and the US and is since concertizing as singer and instrumentalist in duo with piano, in chamber-music-groups and orchestras. There she worked with renowned musicians like Menahem Pressler, Claudio Abbado and Vladimir Ashkenazy. As a teacher Astrid includes in her experience over a decade of teaching violin/viola at the University school of music, Hamburg. Her training as a body therapist influences the voice training and instrumental teaching.
After the workshop interested students can apply for individual master-classes or for a 2- months-course with Astrid!

Prasthaav is a play in Hindi, adapted from Anton Chekov's The Proposal, a hilarious play depicting romance and marriage. The farce explores the process of getting married and is a satire on the upper middle class and courtship. The play points out the struggle to balance the economic necessities of marriage and what the characters themselves actually want. It shows that marriage is a mean of economic stability for most people and they marry to gain wealth and possessions or to satisfy social pressure. Madan Sharma, a long-time neighbor of Shree Kamalprasad Varma, has come to propose marriage to Varmaji's daughter Radha but gets into an argument with her about the disputed land in Samtanagar and also about their respective hunting dogs. Does Sharma ultimately manage to propose or not ? Let us see if he and Radha really get married or not.

Lamakaan hosts a One day Painting exhibition done with oil pastels (crayons) by Jyothi Janakiram on 14th Jun 10am - 5pm.

“Life is like a great big canvas and you should throw all the paint on it you can”’ With this belief Jyothi's journey as a Painter began.
These are ‘Crayon’ paintings done with Oil Pastels on chart paper. There are two series, one on’ Buddha’ and the other on ‘Women’ beside some random ones.
Her very first painting titled ‘Ecstasy’ was done a few years back and the journey continues till date where she has tried to explore everything that inspires her!
‘Musing’ was the second of the series where human mind and our thoughts fascinated Jyothi! Another random piece ‘MUY BELLA SENORITA’ reflects my love for ‘diversity in cultures’ in this world.
Painting Lord Krishna in an un-conventional way as a Yadava rather than the Almighty was a refreshing change!
Rabindranath Tagore the first Non-European Nobel Laureate who gave us our National Anthem was the perfect way to pay my respects to the great man on Republic Day.
Jyothi started a series on Lord Buddha whose preachings influenced people from all walks of life and completed four paintings. The First was titled ‘Courage’ second ‘Fearless’ ,third ‘Dedication’ and the fourth ‘Determination’.
I started my second series on ‘Women’-First being ‘Aegle’ second was ‘Cybele’ and the third ‘Adithri’. They have been so titled to reflect the ‘Essence of a Woman’.
Another random painting on the occasion of our 65th Independence Day titled’ Iphigenia-Strong Born’ is dedicated to the women of the world.
She experimented with Dry Pastels combined with Oil-pastels resulted in ‘Serenity’ wherein a flower represented “Peace Amidst The Storm”
‘Lord Ganesha’s ‘ painting as the ‘obstacle remover’ was the beginning of the “Sculpture Series’.
It has been a wonderful and fulfilling journey which I plan to continue.............!

What's up With Hyd Women? is a quirky and fun take on a guy's search for love in a confused, urban and hybridized Hyd. It brings various female stereotypes that exist in Hyd to the forefront. This play has characters who resemble people we all know - pretentious Jubilee Hills Janaki Road, the innocent but cunning Mahalaxmi from Malleswaram, the neurotic bhavana from Banjara Hills, the crazy secunderabad sanaa and the manipulative Panjugutta Paya;. An Evening Dance & Dialogue
A Unique Kuchipudi Dance Performance

This program is designed to propagate and educate the audience on Indian Classical dances. It is observed that most of the younger generation do not completely understand Classical dance, and seem to have a notion that is boring and hence cannot connect with fine art.
We will position our performance, so the audience will grasp what we are doing and how we do it! We will endeavor to clear the communication gap – that exists between a Classical dancer and the Rasikas.
It would not be just a dance program, but an evening of comprehending the grammar of the dancer and dance. Trust this first ever idea would be great experience, and the audience better appreciates the values of Indian heritage and culture.
Haleem Khan will be joined by Madhu Swaminadh on the stage, to entertain and interact.

About the Artist-
Haleem Khan is a renowned Kuchipudi dancer with more than 15 years of experience. He has travelled extensively with his innovative choreographies and has given more than 500 performances in India and abroad. His passion for dance has won him laurels. Many of Haleem’s performances and choreographing have also been experimental – Yaad-e-mazee (a dance performance around the poetry of Tan Shah and Quli Qutub Shah), Rhyme & Rhythm (Kuchipudi dance based on English poetry), Melange of Dances (a fusion of Kuchipudi and Ballet), Mah Laqa ko Aadab (enacting the dance performances of the legendary dancer and poetess Maha Laqa) – to mention a few.
Haleem is also one of the few male Kuchipudi dancers who has perfected female impersonation in dance. He is also working successfuly in Telugu films as an artist. He lives in Hyerabad.

Puzzles- Is a comedy show by Vedaham Arts, played in Hyderabadi Hindi which involves funny moments and humorous events between friends having distinct attributes. A group of friends discuss their lives, share moments and make fun of each other. The story flows from hilarious events where old school friends sitting and gossiping about their lives, at a cafe named Puzzles. Suddenly they see a new face in the cafe, whom they start flirting with and eventually she becomes one of them. The stories vary from roommates in the apartment arguing, to the flashback of college days to the episode of the girl in boys washroom. The comedy, language and the innuendo should make the evening memorable and rib-tickling for our audience.

The quiz is about how the technology industry evolved, who were the pioneers, the improvements, Internet, milestones and the visionaries who have been part of this entire technology spectrum.

Starting from the very early days to the latest developments in Hardware, Software and Technology leap that we are experiencing, the quiz will cover the entire spectrum.

Its a story of a psychology professor who tries to experiment on his thesis on his choosen Model with a unique idea by inducing fear in him over phone. He calls him frequently and confirms whether his thesis is working. He fully controls his psychology and exploits his findings on the receipient (Model) and makes him oblige to his directions. Finally he succeeds and the Model dies.

Inviting you to the Persian Miniature Painting Exhibition by Shima Talebi from 25th - 29th Jun from 10:30am - 5pm.

The bright and pure coloring of the Persian miniature is one of its most Striking features. Normally all the pigments used are Mineral-based ones which keep their bright colors very
well if kept in proper conditions, the main exception being silver, mostly used to depict water, which will oxidize to a rough-edged black over time. The conventions of Persian miniatures changed slowly; faces are normally youthful and seen in three-quarters view, with a plump rounded lower face better suited to portraying typical Central Asian or Chinese features than those of most Persians. Lighting is even, without shadows or chiaroscuro.

The talented painter Shima holds this solo exhibition at Lamakaan. She is painting professionally since she 17 years age and her style is the combination of traditional
Miniature and carpet patterns.

Thanks to some inspiring leadership and support, Indian documentary saw a short-lived but very exciting period at the Films Division in the 1960s and early 1970s. A bunch of remarkable filmmakers like Pramod Pati, Fali Bilimoria, Clement Baptista, Shanti
Chowdhury, S.N.S. Sastry, Sukhdev, T.A. Abraham S.N.Chari and Prem Vaidya in the area of documentary and experimental cinema with great freedom. These near-forgotten masters and their works are now being rediscovered and studied by film enthusiasts.

S.N.S. Sastry (1930–1978) was among Films Division's most celebrated cameramen and filmmakers. A diploma holder in cinematography from the Bangalore Polytechnic, Sastry joined Films Division as a cameraman and started directing films in 1956. The four films chosen for screening are among the best of the nearly 45 films he made for FD. Gentle, audacious and maverick by turns, Sastry’s films never cease to surprise!

It is a quintessential part of life and we get to see it time and again. Like the classic dichotomies of life: Day-Night, Good-Bad, Black-White, Failure forms a pair with Success. However, one can’t succeed every single time. We are bound to screw up on some occasions. But at the end it’s these failures that help us learn. These mistakes enable us to think, be creative and do the innovative.
FailFest is a manifestation of this whole idea around changing the conversations around Failure. The first FailFest was held on May 3, 2013 at Lamakaan. We invited people from all walks of life, from book authors and actors to techies and entrepreneurs. Anybody, who wanted to share their major learnings with a compelling storyline was welcome.The speakers spoke about their challenging journeys where they faced failure, in some form or the other at every step and shared their biggest learnings from those thrilling experiences.

Meanwhile, the film intends to capture the Sufi traditions existing in the city and how it has been influencing people of different spheres in the society. The film also traces the historical context in which Sufi masters from different parts of Asia, came and established themselves in Deccan region of India and their contribution in the field of music, literature and architecture.

Synopsis:At the crux of the waste management system in any urban space lies the disposal of Garbage. In Hyderabad, this chore of collecting waste, segregating and disposing it is performed by few uneducated and poverty stricken groups belonging to lower castes and class. In spite of their constant drudgery to keep the city clean, they are neither recognized as Workers by the government nor valued by the society.
Shot in various parts of Hyderabad, Bread, Butter and Garbage explores the grinding work and functioning of the door-to-door garbage collection in the city. It gives an insight to how the State, for years, has withdrawn from its responsibilities in providing the garbage collectors the worker identity and entitlements. These groups of people, in the past 15 years, have set up their own enterprise of waste management and are completely depended on it for survival. While they are just about to reap the fruits of their endurance and perseverance, the Private group Ramky is all set to take over their business with the support of the State. Using personal interviews, the film presents the phenomenal case of how public-private partnership affects the livelihoods of these individuals leaving them threatened, and on the verge of displacement.

By interspersing the conversations of Saidulu with the Srikrishna Rayabaram play, wherein he plays the role of srikrishna, this film tries to shed some light on his life and the declining art form.

The reflexive elements in the documentary prod the viewers to question the ‘norm’alisation of gender roles and the pressures they place on people, whether biological or socially constructed.

Prayoga is an artist led initiative(Makerspace) which is conducting a workshop on a introduction into 3D Printing & digital fabrication for artists, designers, architects and students interested in Digital Fabrication .

The participants will be taken through a brief presentation on the basics of a 3D Printing and designing a 3D model to be able to print it properly. A live 3D printer will be present for participants to understand better . If interested in executing their designs they will be invited to fabricate their own designs at the Prayoga Fablab on the assigned day.

Astrid will share out of her rich experience as an orchestra-musician, teacher and vocalist! She was born in South Germany, starting violin playing at the age of 5, as well as singing two years later. She enrolled in a youth university program, followed by studies in Berlin and the US and is since concertizing as singer and instrumentalist in duo with piano, in chamber-music-groups and orchestras. There she worked with renowned musicians like Menahem Pressler, Claudio Abbado and Vladimir Ashkenazy. As a teacher Astrid includes in her experience over a decade of teaching violin/viola at the University school of music, Hamburg. Her training as a body therapist influences the voice training and instrumental teaching.
After the workshop interested students can apply for individual master-classes or for a 2- months-course with Astrid!

Prasthaav is a play in Hindi, adapted from Anton Chekov's The Proposal, a hilarious play depicting romance and marriage. The farce explores the process of getting married and is a satire on the upper middle class and courtship. The play points out the struggle to balance the economic necessities of marriage and what the characters themselves actually want. It shows that marriage is a mean of economic stability for most people and they marry to gain wealth and possessions or to satisfy social pressure. Madan Sharma, a long-time neighbor of Shree Kamalprasad Varma, has come to propose marriage to Varmaji's daughter Radha but gets into an argument with her about the disputed land in Samtanagar and also about their respective hunting dogs. Does Sharma ultimately manage to propose or not ? Let us see if he and Radha really get married or not.

Lamakaan hosts a One day Painting exhibition done with oil pastels (crayons) by Jyothi Janakiram on 14th Jun 10am - 5pm.

“Life is like a great big canvas and you should throw all the paint on it you can”’ With this belief Jyothi's journey as a Painter began.
These are ‘Crayon’ paintings done with Oil Pastels on chart paper. There are two series, one on’ Buddha’ and the other on ‘Women’ beside some random ones.
Her very first painting titled ‘Ecstasy’ was done a few years back and the journey continues till date where she has tried to explore everything that inspires her!
‘Musing’ was the second of the series where human mind and our thoughts fascinated Jyothi! Another random piece ‘MUY BELLA SENORITA’ reflects my love for ‘diversity in cultures’ in this world.
Painting Lord Krishna in an un-conventional way as a Yadava rather than the Almighty was a refreshing change!
Rabindranath Tagore the first Non-European Nobel Laureate who gave us our National Anthem was the perfect way to pay my respects to the great man on Republic Day.
Jyothi started a series on Lord Buddha whose preachings influenced people from all walks of life and completed four paintings. The First was titled ‘Courage’ second ‘Fearless’ ,third ‘Dedication’ and the fourth ‘Determination’.
I started my second series on ‘Women’-First being ‘Aegle’ second was ‘Cybele’ and the third ‘Adithri’. They have been so titled to reflect the ‘Essence of a Woman’.
Another random painting on the occasion of our 65th Independence Day titled’ Iphigenia-Strong Born’ is dedicated to the women of the world.
She experimented with Dry Pastels combined with Oil-pastels resulted in ‘Serenity’ wherein a flower represented “Peace Amidst The Storm”
‘Lord Ganesha’s ‘ painting as the ‘obstacle remover’ was the beginning of the “Sculpture Series’.
It has been a wonderful and fulfilling journey which I plan to continue.............!

This program is designed to propagate and educate the audience on Indian Classical dances. It is observed that most of the younger generation do not completely understand Classical dance, and seem to have a notion that is boring and hence cannot connect with fine art.
We will position our performance, so the audience will grasp what we are doing and how we do it! We will endeavor to clear the communication gap – that exists between a Classical dancer and the Rasikas.
It would not be just a dance program, but an evening of comprehending the grammar of the dancer and dance. Trust this first ever idea would be great experience, and the audience better appreciates the values of Indian heritage and culture.
Haleem Khan will be joined by Madhu Swaminadh on the stage, to entertain and interact.

Haleem Khan is a renowned Kuchipudi dancer with more than 15 years of experience. Many of Haleem’s performances and choreographing have also been experimental – Yaad-e-mazee (a dance performance around the poetry of Tan Shah and Quli Qutub Shah), Rhyme & Rhythm (Kuchipudi dance based on English poetry), Melange of Dances (a fusion of Kuchipudi and Ballet), Mah Laqa ko Aadab (enacting the dance performances of the legendary dancer and poetess Maha Laqa) – to mention a few.
Haleem is also one of the few male Kuchipudi dancers who has perfected female impersonation in dance. He is also working successfuly in Telugu films as an artist. He lives in Hyerabad.

Puzzles- Is a comedy show by Vedaham Arts, played in Hyderabadi Hindi which involves funny moments and humorous events between friends having distinct attributes. A group of friends discuss their lives, share moments and make fun of each other. The story flows from hilarious events where old school friends sitting and gossiping about their lives, at a cafe named Puzzles. Suddenly they see a new face in the cafe, whom they start flirting with and eventually she becomes one of them. The stories vary from roommates in the apartment arguing, to the flashback of college days to the episode of the girl in boys washroom. The comedy, language and the innuendo should make the evening memorable and rib-tickling for our audience.

Inviting you to the Persian Miniature Painting Exhibition by Shima Talebi from 25th - 29th Jun from 10:30am - 5pm.

The bright and pure coloring of the Persian miniature is one of its most Striking features. Normally all the pigments used are Mineral-based ones which keep their bright colors very
well if kept in proper conditions, the main exception being silver, mostly used to depict water, which will oxidize to a rough-edged black over time. The conventions of Persian miniatures changed slowly; faces are normally youthful and seen in three-quarters view, with a plump rounded lower face better suited to portraying typical Central Asian or Chinese features than those of most Persians. Lighting is even, without shadows or chiaroscuro.

The talented painter Shima holds this solo exhibition at Lamakaan. She is painting professionally since she 17 years age and her style is the combination of traditional
Miniature and carpet patterns.

Thanks to some inspiring leadership and support, Indian documentary saw a short-lived but very exciting period at the Films Division in the 1960s and early 1970s. A bunch of remarkable filmmakers like Pramod Pati, Fali Bilimoria, Clement Baptista, Shanti
Chowdhury, S.N.S. Sastry, Sukhdev, T.A. Abraham S.N.Chari and Prem Vaidya in the area of documentary and experimental cinema with great freedom. These near-forgotten masters and their works are now being rediscovered and studied by film enthusiasts.

S.N.S. Sastry (1930–1978) was among Films Division's most celebrated cameramen and filmmakers. A diploma holder in cinematography from the Bangalore Polytechnic, Sastry joined Films Division as a cameraman and started directing films in 1956. The four films chosen for screening are among the best of the nearly 45 films he made for FD. Gentle, audacious and maverick by turns, Sastry’s films never cease to surprise!

FailFest is a fun, engaging & learning forum that aims to change the conversations around Failure.

Failure is considered undesirable, unacceptable. an outright defeat and a complete disaster. However, Failure by all means, is truly ‘inevitable’. It is a quintessential part of life and we get to see it time and again. Like the classic dichotomies of life: Day-Night, Good-Bad, Black-White, Failure forms a pair with Success. However, one can’t succeed every single time. We are bound to screw up on some occasions. But at the end it’s these failures that help us learn. These mistakes enable us to think, be creative and do the innovative.
FailFest is a manifestation of this whole idea around changing the conversations around Failure. The first FailFest was held on May 3, 2013 at Lamakaan. We invited people from all walks of life, from book authors and actors to techies and entrepreneurs. Anybody, who wanted to share their major learnings with a compelling storyline was welcome.The speakers spoke about their challenging journeys where they faced failure, in some form or the other at every step and shared their biggest learnings from those thrilling experiences.

Synopsis:This documentary film is about finding a forgotten Sufi Abu Hashim Madani, who was the teacher of Hazrat Inayat Khan. Inayat Khan journeyed from Hyderabad to New York following the guidance of his Sufi teacher who bade him to unite East and West with the harmony of Music. Meanwhile, the film intends to capture the Sufi traditions existing in the city and how it has been influencing people of different spheres in the society. The film also traces the historical context in which Sufi masters from different parts of Asia, came and established themselves in Deccan region of India and their contribution in the field of music, literature and architecture.

Synopsis:At the crux of the waste management system in any urban space lies the disposal of Garbage. In Hyderabad, this chore of collecting waste, segregating and disposing it is performed by few uneducated and poverty stricken groups belonging to lower castes and class. In spite of their constant drudgery to keep the city clean, they are neither recognized as Workers by the government nor valued by the society.
Shot in various parts of Hyderabad, Bread, Butter and Garbage explores the grinding work and functioning of the door-to-door garbage collection in the city. It gives an insight to how the State, for years, has withdrawn from its responsibilities in providing the garbage collectors the worker identity and entitlements. These groups of people, in the past 15 years, have set up their own enterprise of waste management and are completely depended on it for survival. While they are just about to reap the fruits of their endurance and perseverance, the Private group Ramky is all set to take over their business with the support of the State. Using personal interviews, the film presents the phenomenal case of how public-private partnership affects the livelihoods of these individuals leaving them threatened, and on the verge of displacement.

By interspersing the conversations of Saidulu with the Srikrishna Rayabaram play, wherein he plays the role of srikrishna, this film tries to shed some light on his life and the declining art form.

Synopsis:Made by four young women, this films starts with examining the popular notions of masculinity. Through a series of interviews the filmmakers try to shed light on how the ideas of ‘Real Man’, ‘Ideal Man’ push the society to bring up young boys in emotionally repressive environment, leading to fragile egos and violent notions of masculinity as they grow up. The reflexive elements in the documentary prod the viewers to question the ‘norm’alisation of gender roles and the pressures they place on people, whether biological or socially constructed.
