On July 3, 2003, Deepanker Gohain, the 23-year old student of the College of Visual Arts, Baroda (India), committed suicide, which shocked the campus.

What saddened the students was the way the college authorities handled the matter, shielding the facts from the media.

Deepanker’s batch-mate Amitabh Pandey witnessed the suicide, capturing all of it on his Handycam. Pandey came from a well-connected political family. When college sided with him on this incident, the other half of the story got buried in police records.

We have made this short film with extremely low resources over the weekends which was liked by many film critics and independent film makers. We would like to showcase it for other film enthusiasts and our team in Hyderabad. It is based in Hyderabad also.

A train enters Le Ciotat station. The Lumière brothers' historic images reveal a fact: the train puts society on the move. These images open this journey into the world of railroaders today.

Through various encounters and by discovering railroaders' daily work, the functioning of this public service enterprise is revealed. Since its beginnings, the railroad has associated different jobs and skills. A community has grown round work culture and solidarity. Today, opening up to competition is at hand. The network and services are separated, jobs compartmentalized. Railroaders feel increasingly isolated. The upheavals have been profound. The very meaning of work and its efficiency are under review. Beyond the railroaders, the whole of society is affected.

Throughout the voyage, cinema and memory cast a light on current times: Ken Loach, director of The Navigators, notes that this same movement was behind the privatization of the British railroads and led to their social and financial collapse.

The Great Resistant, Raymond Aubrac, calls out to public opinion. This liberalization movement undermines the very foundations of our republican model.

And warnings and lessons to others.

The screening will be followed by discussion on the film.

This workshop titled ``Contact” is inspired by Astronomy from the award-winning movie Contact. We plan to screen the movie on a Saturday night (September 22 2012) and then the next day have a workshop based on the science (good & bad) from the movie. The idea being to train people to critically asses scientific information they come across on the net, in movies, in newspapers....In the present time when we are flooded with information, this skill will go a long way in helping people assimilate information. The workshop will comprise of 3 lectures and a complete open session in the afternoon to encourage free thinking & discussion of science.

Rotaract club of Hyderabad East is organising a photography workshop, in which the money which is raised will be used to organize The Joy of giving week. So on 23rd of this month, from 2PM-5:30PM, we would like to organize this event in Lamakaan. Thank you.

With this event the studio wants to create an eco system for filmmakers to co exist & evolve, this is forum will address practical pain points of filmmaker like production (including pre & post), casting & other important issues. After the entire list of movies is screened we have a 30-45 min focused discussion moderated by the studio to find ans to some of the current problem of film making.
A bi-monthly event held to promote short films; we call for short films entries to be sent to us. We accept films below 45 mins in this type. Your work can be submitted to Octopus Studios, the set of independent curator will go through the films & select a set of films. We screen selected short films to an elite audience who are short film enthusiasts. We introduce the filmmakers as well cast & crew to the audience.

Enriched with 3000 articles on various topics on Arts, Science, Places and people of interest and lot more Odia Wikipedia has over 25 active contributors across the world. Odias in Odisha and of Odia diaspora have been educating more and more people in different places by organizing workshops. Hyderabad Odia Wikipedia workshop is going to the first Odia workshop in the city. This is an open event and anyone who can read and write Odia can join this.

Presumed Guilty is a documentary on the justice system of Mexico where an accused has to prove his innocense rather than the police having to prove his guilt. This puts loads of innocents behind bars for crimes that they had absolutely nothing to do with.

This is the story of one such young man who was convicted of a murder even though he had ample witnesses corroborating his alibi at the time.
