Syed Ubaidur Rahman's book is a valuable addition to Indian awqaf scholarship. It covers the developments of over fourteen hundred years- from the Islamic theological foundation of awqaf to the recently enacted Waqf(Amendment) Act,2025. The book not only gives details of the historical origin and development of awqaf in India during the medieval period but also discusses the legal milestones both during the colonial period as well as the post-independence era. The book will be of great use to students of history as well as law.

This timely book provides a comprehensive study of the institution of waqf, or Muslim religious and charitable endowments, looking at the subject from the perspectives of Islamic law, Indian history and modern legal developments in India. The book will usefully inform debates, discussions, and policies about waqf, which is not only an important Muslim social institution but a valuable part of Indian heritage.



Syed Ubaidur Rahman is a New Delhi-based historian and author. He has extensively written on medieval and Modern Indian history. His recent publications include History of Waqf in India’, 'Peaceful Expansion of Islam in India' (2024), 'Forgotten Muslim Empires of South India' (2023), 'Biographical Encyclopedia of Indian Muslim Freedom Fighters' (2021), 'Ulema's Role in India's Freedom Movement with Focus on Reshmi Rumal Tehrik' (2019) etc. He is the director of the Centre for History and Heritage (Delhi) and an Associate Fellow of the Royal Historical Society.

Chainpur ki Daastaan is a satirical comedy set in the quirky princely state of Chainpur—an imaginary land where corruption, chaos, and convenience live happily together.

Peaceful, corrupt routine of the village people is shattered when news arrives that a secret government officer from Delhi has come to investigate their misdeeds. Panic spreads, plans are hatched, and misunderstandings explode. What follows is a hilarious series of blunders, confusion, disguises, and desperate attempts by Chainpur’s officials to impress, mislead, and survive the so-called “khufiya afsar”.

Faith communities have long played a crucial role in advocating for human rights and social justice worldwide. From Zohran Mamdani’s electoral victory in New York City to the shift in public opinion on Palestine in the United States, faith-based advocacy from Hindus, Muslims, Jews, Christians, Sikhs, and other religious communities has been key to challenging authoritarianism, imperialism, and social inequality, including within religious traditions. Join Sravya from the USA-based Hindus for Human Rights for an interactive conversation on how faith-based advocacy can be a key pillar in the strategy for social democracy.

About the Speaker:
Sravya is the deputy executive director of Hindus for Human Rights, a US-based NGO that organizes Hindus to stand up against Islamophobia, caste, and gender inequality from a Hindu faith perspective.

Sisters Connect Club is organizing its 1st Anniversary Celebration, bringing together women from our community for an evening of networking, activities, and a curated open mic. The event will include:

• Open Mic Segment:
A limited-slot, pre-registered activity where selected participants will present poetry, stories, or small talks. This segment will be curated to maintain flow and timing.

• Women-Led Stalls:
Small business owners from the community will set up paid stalls to showcase and sell their products. Visitors can purchase items or café food and beverages directly from the vendors/café.

• Networking & Community Interaction:
The event will serve as a platform for women to connect, exchange ideas, and engage in collaborative conversations.

Through shifting conversations with constables, a shadowy figure named Olo, and an ever-present sense of surveillance, the play stages a world where logic breaks down and language circles back on itself. What begins as a comic misunderstanding spirals into a surreal trial of existence itself.

Blending dark humour, psychological realism, and the theatre of the absurd, Olo ka kya holds a mirror to societies where individuals are trapped between authority and their own fractured selves.

What you get to learn
This is a 400-year-old Cheriyal doll/mask making workshop from the artisans of Cheriyal village. Guided session on sanding of coconut shell and using tamarind seed and saw dust paste for making traditional cheriyal mask. The coloring part need to be done after the mask is dried (the next day) so the participants will be given 2 dolls each (as shown in the pictures on the left). one doll will be made by the participant at the workshop and the other doll will be the one made on the previous day by the artist for the participant to colour.

Undying is a shortfilm made entirely by a college filmmaking team and stands as the biggest shortfilm at a college level. It is a one of its kind shortfilm that introduces a fresh and unique take on the zombie-apocalypse genre — blending intense suspense, emotional storytelling, and large-scale execution rarely seen in student productions.Shot entirely on an iPhone, UNDYING showcases how creativity and vision can outshine equipment and resources and the output is achieved by pure teamwork and dedication. Created and Directed by Sriharsha Nihanth, an aspiring filmmaker and a fellow student and the head of the college filmmaking club.
The plot is about a zombie outbreak in a college campus and an intense ride filled with stakes, suspense, twists and turns and adventure with light comedic quirks in between. There are no elements of Vulgarity or even bad language whatsoever in the film. it is a fresh take in student filmmaking and a dream that was executed with extreme efforts

Topic: History of Waqf in India: Muslim Endowments, Origin and Laws

Syed Ubaidur Rahman's book is a valuable addition to Indian awqaf scholarship. It covers the developments of over fourteen hundred years- from the Islamic theological foundation of awqaf to the recently enacted Waqf(Amendment) Act,2025. The book not only gives details of the historical origin and development of awqaf in India during the medieval period but also discusses the legal milestones both during the colonial period as well as the post-independence era. The book will be of great use to students of history as well as law.

This timely book provides a comprehensive study of the institution of waqf, or Muslim religious and charitable endowments, looking at the subject from the perspectives of Islamic law, Indian history and modern legal developments in India. The book will usefully inform debates, discussions, and policies about waqf, which is not only an important Muslim social institution but a valuable part of Indian heritage.



Syed Ubaidur Rahman is a New Delhi-based historian and author. He has extensively written on medieval and Modern Indian history. His recent publications include History of Waqf in India’, 'Peaceful Expansion of Islam in India' (2024), 'Forgotten Muslim Empires of South India' (2023), 'Biographical Encyclopedia of Indian Muslim Freedom Fighters' (2021), 'Ulema's Role in India's Freedom Movement with Focus on Reshmi Rumal Tehrik' (2019) etc. He is the director of the Centre for History and Heritage (Delhi) and an Associate Fellow of the Royal Historical Society.

Peaceful, corrupt routine of the village people is shattered when news arrives that a secret government officer from Delhi has come to investigate their misdeeds. Panic spreads, plans are hatched, and misunderstandings explode. What follows is a hilarious series of blunders, confusion, disguises, and desperate attempts by Chainpur’s officials to impress, mislead, and survive the so-called “khufiya afsar”.

From Zohran Mamdani’s electoral victory in New York City to the shift in public opinion on Palestine in the United States, faith-based advocacy from Hindus, Muslims, Jews, Christians, Sikhs, and other religious communities has been key to challenging authoritarianism, imperialism, and social inequality, including within religious traditions. Join Sravya from the USA-based Hindus for Human Rights for an interactive conversation on how faith-based advocacy can be a key pillar in the strategy for social democracy.

We, Bong Beats, the cultural wing of Bengalis & Hyderabad Collectives, seek approval to host a musical community gathering at Lamakaan. Our group consists of passionate music lovers who come together to celebrate songs across cultures and languages, including Hindi, English, Bengali, and Telugu.
The purpose of this event is to provide an open, inclusive, and culturally enriching space where participants can enjoy singing their favourite songs collectively. This is a non-commercial initiative aimed at fostering community bonding, promoting cross-cultural appreciation, and encouraging artistic expression through music.

Fahrenheit 451 is a film by legendary French filmmaker Francois Truffaut. This film is based on a novel of the same name by American writer Ray Bradbury. The events of the film unfold in a totalitarian society of the future, where people are punished for reading books in order to suppress free thought and rebellion.

This 1966 film is more relevant today than ever, when the ruling class is exercising its powers to curb the democratic space in educational institutions and silence voices of dissent in the society at large.

Sisters Connect Club is organizing its 1st Anniversary Celebration, bringing together women from our community for an evening of networking, activities, and a curated open mic. The event will include:

• Open Mic Segment:
A limited-slot, pre-registered activity where selected participants will present poetry, stories, or small talks. This segment will be curated to maintain flow and timing.

• Women-Led Stalls:
Small business owners from the community will set up paid stalls to showcase and sell their products. Visitors can purchase items or café food and beverages directly from the vendors/café.

• Networking & Community Interaction:
The event will serve as a platform for women to connect, exchange ideas, and engage in collaborative conversations.

Entry:
Free attendance for all women.
Open mic registrations and stall setups will be chargeable internally.

Expected Footfall:
Approximately 70–100 women attendees.

Purpose of the Event:
To celebrate one year of building a women’s community, encourage local women-led businesses, and provide a structured platform for creative and professional expression.

Vandana Susheel is an 20-year-old passionate singer-songwriter, who has been exposed to the world of music since the age of 5. She has done her training for hindustani classical music from the esteemed “Shankar Mahadevan Academy” and also gained certifications for music composition courses from AR Rahman’s “KM Music Conservatory.” She has sung songs for 2 films, and her original song“Yaadon Ke Guldaste” is out on all major streaming platforms

A man named Holo is stopped, questioned, and watched — but no one, not even he, knows what his crime is. Through shifting conversations with constables, a shadowy figure named Olo, and an ever-present sense of surveillance, the play stages a world where logic breaks down and language circles back on itself. What begins as a comic misunderstanding spirals into a surreal trial of existence itself.

Blending dark humour, psychological realism, and the theatre of the absurd, Olo ka kya holds a mirror to societies where individuals are trapped between authority and their own fractured selves.

What you get to learn
This is a 400-year-old Cheriyal doll/mask making workshop from the artisans of Cheriyal village. Guided session on sanding of coconut shell and using tamarind seed and saw dust paste for making traditional cheriyal mask. The coloring part need to be done after the mask is dried (the next day) so the participants will be given 2 dolls each (as shown in the pictures on the left). one doll will be made by the participant at the workshop and the other doll will be the one made on the previous day by the artist for the participant to colour.

Undying is a shortfilm made entirely by a college filmmaking team and stands as the biggest shortfilm at a college level. It is a one of its kind shortfilm that introduces a fresh and unique take on the zombie-apocalypse genre — blending intense suspense, emotional storytelling, and large-scale execution rarely seen in student productions.Shot entirely on an iPhone, UNDYING showcases how creativity and vision can outshine equipment and resources and the output is achieved by pure teamwork and dedication. Created and Directed by Sriharsha Nihanth, an aspiring filmmaker and a fellow student and the head of the college filmmaking club.
The plot is about a zombie outbreak in a college campus and an intense ride filled with stakes, suspense, twists and turns and adventure with light comedic quirks in between. There are no elements of Vulgarity or even bad language whatsoever in the film. it is a fresh take in student filmmaking and a dream that was executed with extreme efforts
