In the deep hills of northeast India, Christianity and pop culture has taken over the imagination of the Tangkhul tribes. Rewben Mashangva from Choithar village travels through the remote villages of the Tangkhul Naga to talk to the old people and collect songs and instruments. The rhythms, melodies and lyrics form links to his own music, which he describes as Naga Folk Blues. In his traditional “haokuirat” hairtsyle and western boots along with his 9 year old son Saka, he performs across india and southeast asia spreading the message that some songs have no end. The film was shot for more than one and half years at Rajasthan, Nagaland, Kolkatta, Shillong, Imphal and other villages of Manipur.

Baluch women in south-eastern part of Iran have made beautiful pottery traditionally for more than 5000 years. Baluch men apply mud on their body and bask in the sun for health and beauty. Woven around the poetry of Omar Khayyam, Soil Water Fire tries to create a symbiotic link in colorful hues and visual splendour.

We are back with the Monthly Testers Meet with a totally different way in which we are going to learn the craft of testing.
How ?

We are going to have a one day hands on session on Exploratory Testing. So, we are requesting the participants to bring in their own laptop because the full day would be ONLY hands on followed by group discussions. So the learning and take away would be awesome.

When?

We are planning to have this meet in October 2012
Planning to start the session at 10.00 am and till 5.00 pm.



The event is as usual FREE and searching for the venue which have WIFI facility.

I thought communicating to you because I found your office space has the following pre-requisites

Could accommodate 60-70 folks
Thinking that you give us permission to bring in laptop
We expect that you have wifi facility for the participants to connect
Also expect that you have projector and screen if the hall is big need a mike
White board or some place where we can use for writing
Facility for tea/coffee and snacks and also lunch

Had it not been for radio, Bob Dylan and the guitar, Guru Rewben Mashangva would be sitting in his village in company of cacophonic crickets and children narrating folk tales.

Guru Rewben Mashangva, the father of Naga Folk Blues and the Music Revivalist will be performing at Lamakaan with his high energy team.

Guru has contributed tremendously to the cause of preserving folk music and working towards the revival of Naga Culture in Manipur after the conversion to Anglicized Christianity. Howey and hao are two recent entries in the list of musical genres in the world and Guru Rewben Mashangva is one of the pioneers, the other being the folk rock band Abiogenesis.

This comedy its inspired on my two weeks experiencing the Conference of the Parties COP11 on Biodiversity, Hyderabad 2012.

Get ready for the ‘Acoustic night – 2’

This Event is based on the ‘Acoustic theme’.

This will include the minimal setting of the unplugged shows you see on TV.

Unlike the huge Rock shows, to maintain the Acoustic feel of the songs, we have selected our equipments carefully like a simple integration

of an Acoustic guitar and a ‘Djembe’(African Drum).

We have picked up some famous tracks from your favorite bands.

We will be performing acoustic versions of those songs. We also are releasing our own composition LIVE for the first time.

A two-day festival of documentaries by eminent Indian docu filmaker and cinematographer R V RAMANI.

Screening of films followed by Interaction with the maker.

1) "Blue Black Yellow" (5 Min.)

The painter, Achyuthan Kudallur, inaugurates his exhibition of abstract paintings, in Chennai. The filmmaker goes on a quizzical journey, through colors, forms, space, movements and gestures at the exhibition. A film as an abstract.

2) "Brahma Vishnu Shiva" (19 Min.)

The filmmaker persuades his Japanese sculptor friend, Toshikazu Kanai, to work with sand as the medium, near the waterfront on a beach. The waves lash. Children jump around. Fish gets caught. A balloon girl passes. A film happens, revealing the process of creation, sustenance and destruction, all happening at the same time.

3) "Is this how Craters are formed in the Moon" (13 Min.)

Holes dug across the ground for a temple festival, lies shattered at the end of it forming huge craters.

4) "NEE YAAR" (Who are you) (120 Min.)

For and in partnership with the Prasar Bharati Sundara Ramaswamy (SuRa) is considered as one of the foremost Tamil modernist writers. Having brought up in the background of Malayalam language and culture, SuRa learnt Tamil by himself, emerging as a Tamil writer by sheer hard work and passion. He championed a vision, where readers can access important writings in different Indian languages. In the back drop of the Dravidian and Dalit movements in Tamil Nadu, SuRa struggled to evolve a modern Tamil literature, independent of its ancient tradition and its associated politics. This often found his writings pitted against his Brahmin background and upbringing. Sundara Ramaswamy, died at the age of 75, on October 15th 2005. As per his last wishes; his cremation was carried out without any rituals.

It is a memory of a camera which perished in the Tsunami, along with its last filmed footage. It’s last recorded footage, an elusive image, evoking multiple possibilities, seeking parallels and new perspectives.

कहानी बड़े भाईसाहब प्रेमचंद की उन प्रसिद्द रचनाओ में से एक हैं जो समाज के स्वरुप को यथार्थ और वास्तविकता के साथ प्रस्तुत करती हैं। इस कहानी में दो पात्र हैं एक छोटाभाई दूसरा बड़ाभाई जिनके माध्यम से लेखक ने दो अलग अलग तरह के मनोविज्ञान को प्रस्तुत किया हैं। बड़ा भाई जो रूढीवाद और परम्पराओ के पालन करने में कट्टर विश्वास रखता हैं और छोटा भाई जो परिस्थितियों के साथ परिवर्तित होकर अपनी ही तरह की जिंदगी जीने में विश्वास रखता हैं। बड़ा भाई परम्परावाद की ज़ंजीरो से अपने जीवन को इस तरह जकड लेता हैं कि कहानी के अंत तक आते आते उसे इन ज़ंजीरो से घुटन होने लगती हैं। वही लेखक ने शिक्षण व्यवस्था पर बड़े भाई साहब के माध्यम से अपनी अनूठी शेअली में व्यंग प्रस्तुत किया हैं। उदहारण के तौर पे बड़े भाई बहुत मेहनती हैं दिन रात पढ़ते हैं उसपर भी फेल होते जाते क्योकि वो किताबो से भी दो कदम आगे की सोचने लगते हैं उनके फेल होने का मुख्य कारण उनके खुद के बनाये सिद्धांत होते है। वही छोटा भाई समय और परिस्थिति के हिसाब से पढ़ता हैं और दनादन पास होता चला जाता हैं। अंत में थक कर बड़े भाईसाहब रूढ़ीवाद और खोखली परम्परा की दीवारों को लांघकर अपने छोटे भाई की कलाई थामे अपनी उमंगो और आकांक्षाओ की ओर दौड़ने लगते हैं।मुंशी जी ने भी इस कहानी से यही बताया है कि "परम्परा व्यक्ति के लिए होती हैं, व्यक्ति परम्परा के लिए नहीं "

PADVI BRASHTACHARACHI (BILINGUAL)(DIPLOMA IN CORRUPTION)(A SOCIAL SATIRE)
Corruption in high places is a burning topic of today, but corruption in the life of a common man is a matter of equally grave concern. The play "Bhrashtacharachi Padavi” voices these concern in form of a satire in which a middle class retired school teacher places an advertisement in local newspaper about coaching classes for etiquettes and manners (Shishtachar). The advertisement is wrongly published as "coaching classes for Bhrashtachar (Corruption)".

This leads to visits by a policeman, an officer from Municipal Corporation, and the education department who bully him. The hapless teacher ends up paying bribes to keep them quiet and not take any action against him. To top this, an ex-chief engineer from mining department offers himself as a faculty member.

The exasperated teacher seriously decides to drop his idea of coaching classes for Shishtachar. Entry of a eunuch looking for any degree or diploma, hoping to achieve some sort of status in the society changes the tone of the play from sarcastic to serious. The teacher rejects the eunuch for enrollment and the eunuch lashes out and ridicules the teacher for paying bribes to save his skin.

"He who gives bribes is more responsible for corruption than he who receives them.” This scourge of corruption is like Bhishmacharya of Mahabharat, who is unconquerable, and cannot be killed” bemoans the teacher.

“Do not be afraid of consequences. Fight this war, become Arjun. We the descendents of Shikhandi will join hands with you” declares the eunuch as the play draws curtain.

of an Acoustic guitar and a ‘Djembe’(African Drum).

We have picked up some famous tracks from your favorite bands.

We will be performing acoustic versions of those songs. We also are releasing our own composition LIVE for the first time.

1) "Blue Black Yellow" (5 Min.)

The painter, Achyuthan Kudallur, inaugurates his exhibition of abstract paintings, in Chennai. The filmmaker goes on a quizzical journey, through colors, forms, space, movements and gestures at the exhibition. A film as an abstract.

2) "Brahma Vishnu Shiva" (19 Min.)

The filmmaker persuades his Japanese sculptor friend, Toshikazu Kanai, to work with sand as the medium, near the waterfront on a beach. The waves lash. Children jump around. Fish gets caught. A balloon girl passes. A film happens, revealing the process of creation, sustenance and destruction, all happening at the same time.

3) "Is this how Craters are formed in the Moon" (13 Min.)

Holes dug across the ground for a temple festival, lies shattered at the end of it forming huge craters.

4) "NEE YAAR" (Who are you) (120 Min.)

For and in partnership with the Prasar Bharati Sundara Ramaswamy (SuRa) is considered as one of the foremost Tamil modernist writers. Having brought up in the background of Malayalam language and culture, SuRa learnt Tamil by himself, emerging as a Tamil writer by sheer hard work and passion. He championed a vision, where readers can access important writings in different Indian languages. In the back drop of the Dravidian and Dalit movements in Tamil Nadu, SuRa struggled to evolve a modern Tamil literature, independent of its ancient tradition and its associated politics. This often found his writings pitted against his Brahmin background and upbringing. Sundara Ramaswamy, died at the age of 75, on October 15th 2005. As per his last wishes; his cremation was carried out without any rituals.

The film shares special moments that the filmmaker experienced with his camera, a special bonding over a period of 4 years, in terms of creating cinematic imagery, relating, exploring, seeking and interpreting notions of his reality. It is a memory of a camera which perished in the Tsunami, along with its last filmed footage. It’s last recorded footage, an elusive image, evoking multiple possibilities, seeking parallels and new perspectives.

कहानी बड़े भाईसाहब प्रेमचंद की उन प्रसिद्द रचनाओ में से एक हैं जो समाज के स्वरुप को यथार्थ और वास्तविकता के साथ प्रस्तुत करती हैं। इस कहानी में दो पात्र हैं एक छोटाभाई दूसरा बड़ाभाई जिनके माध्यम से लेखक ने दो अलग अलग तरह के मनोविज्ञान को प्रस्तुत किया हैं। बड़ा भाई जो रूढीवाद और परम्पराओ के पालन करने में कट्टर विश्वास रखता हैं और छोटा भाई जो परिस्थितियों के साथ परिवर्तित होकर अपनी ही तरह की जिंदगी जीने में विश्वास रखता हैं। बड़ा भाई परम्परावाद की ज़ंजीरो से अपने जीवन को इस तरह जकड लेता हैं कि कहानी के अंत तक आते आते उसे इन ज़ंजीरो से घुटन होने लगती हैं। वही लेखक ने शिक्षण व्यवस्था पर बड़े भाई साहब के माध्यम से अपनी अनूठी शेअली में व्यंग प्रस्तुत किया हैं। उदहारण के तौर पे बड़े भाई बहुत मेहनती हैं दिन रात पढ़ते हैं उसपर भी फेल होते जाते क्योकि वो किताबो से भी दो कदम आगे की सोचने लगते हैं उनके फेल होने का मुख्य कारण उनके खुद के बनाये सिद्धांत होते है। वही छोटा भाई समय और परिस्थिति के हिसाब से पढ़ता हैं और दनादन पास होता चला जाता हैं। अंत में थक कर बड़े भाईसाहब रूढ़ीवाद और खोखली परम्परा की दीवारों को लांघकर अपने छोटे भाई की कलाई थामे अपनी उमंगो और आकांक्षाओ की ओर दौड़ने लगते हैं।मुंशी जी ने भी इस कहानी से यही बताया है कि "परम्परा व्यक्ति के लिए होती हैं, व्यक्ति परम्परा के लिए नहीं "

MARATHI PLAY
PADVI BRASHTACHARACHI (BILINGUAL)(DIPLOMA IN CORRUPTION)(A SOCIAL SATIRE)
Corruption in high places is a burning topic of today, but corruption in the life of a common man is a matter of equally grave concern. The play "Bhrashtacharachi Padavi” voices these concern in form of a satire in which a middle class retired school teacher places an advertisement in local newspaper about coaching classes for etiquettes and manners (Shishtachar). The advertisement is wrongly published as "coaching classes for Bhrashtachar (Corruption)".

This leads to visits by a policeman, an officer from Municipal Corporation, and the education department who bully him. The hapless teacher ends up paying bribes to keep them quiet and not take any action against him. To top this, an ex-chief engineer from mining department offers himself as a faculty member.

The exasperated teacher seriously decides to drop his idea of coaching classes for Shishtachar. Entry of a eunuch looking for any degree or diploma, hoping to achieve some sort of status in the society changes the tone of the play from sarcastic to serious. The teacher rejects the eunuch for enrollment and the eunuch lashes out and ridicules the teacher for paying bribes to save his skin.

"He who gives bribes is more responsible for corruption than he who receives them.” This scourge of corruption is like Bhishmacharya of Mahabharat, who is unconquerable, and cannot be killed” bemoans the teacher.

“Do not be afraid of consequences. Fight this war, become Arjun. We the descendents of Shikhandi will join hands with you” declares the eunuch as the play draws curtain.
