This workshop titled ``Contact” is inspired by Astronomy from the award-winning movie Contact. We plan to screen the movie on a Saturday night (September 22 2012) and then the next day have a workshop based on the science (good & bad) from the movie. The idea being to train people to critically asses scientific information they come across on the net, in movies, in newspapers....In the present time when we are flooded with information, this skill will go a long way in helping people assimilate information. The workshop will comprise of 3 lectures and a complete open session in the afternoon to encourage free thinking & discussion of science.
