Detection of Gravitational waves
Sun Feb 28, 11:00 AM
Priya and Najam Hasan
Welcome to Lamakaan for a discussion on the topic "Gravitational waves" on National Science Day - the birth anniversary of Sir CV Raman.
In 1905, Einstein postulated the Special Theory of Relativity which deals with inertial frames. In 1916, he worked out the General Theory of Relativity in which he proposed the distortion of space time as the cause behind the force of gravity. The detection of these waves had to wait for another 100 years. As a celebration of National Science Day, we shall discuss the detection of gravitational waves and India's role in gravitational wave detection.
Dr. Priya and Prof. najam Hasan will present the topic today.
The event is free and all are welcome (Including non-science audience also).
